Does it matter what headphones you use on a zoom interview in terms of looks for prestigious companies MBB, Big 4 and others? I’ve been told that that my Sony noise cancelling headphones don’t look good and I should invest in AirPods.
Anyone switch firms among the big 4 and felt you were performing exceedingly well, even though you didn’t really doing anything different in your previous big 4 firm to begin with? Want to understand if its the firm rather than the individual sometimes.
Startup (with CPA) to Transaction Advisory Services...is it possible? Getting little luck with B4.
FYI - you should still get 401k match from your old company if you leave in first few months of new year. Heard differently on this app, but left B4 in Jan and still got employer match in Feb for 2019
Experienced hire manager at big 4 only a couple months into my new role and seriously stressed out by the long hours, nonstop pace, and constant fires. Would these issues be as prevalent in tech? How soon can I switch without it hurting my resume? Its so bad my therapist is coaching me using trauma response methods she uses for her military and EMT clients.
Any recommendations of recruiters for big 4 experienced seniors in NYC? Recruiters for international candidates would be an added advantage. TIA
Current senior graduating in December 21. Go to a complete non-target but have multiple experiences at well known companies/banks on my resume. Current intern at a very well known tech company in their consulting arm… but have had zero luck on applications. Denied by big 4 through the top 10 for entry level development programs, BA, and associate roles. Had great connections a year ago, but since, they’ve all moved to industry…. What would you do?
PwC On Fortunes list of 100 Best Companies to Work For!....and dead last of the big 4, which is not mentioned at all in the PwC Inside article
Is traveling ever coming back to B4 advisory?
Attending Appalachian State University for athletic reasons as I played baseball here. Will finish my degree in Supply Chain Management in December. I want to break into consulting in the supply chain and operations sector in NYC. I would love to connect with anyone in Big 4 - Deloitte , KPMG, PwC, EY and MBB to get some insight on the college recruiting cycle coming up. Currently have a 3.81 GPA, family startup company experience, and restaurant industry experience.
Has anyone jumped from Big 4 Advisory to Tier 1 Consulting firms (e.g. MBB). Was the jump at the same, higher or lower level?
How should you respond to a LinkedIn recruiter when the time isn’t right but you don’t want to burn a bridge? I just started at McKinsey a few months ago and a Big 4 recruiter reached out, now is not the right time to move but I’m not sure what the future holds and don’t want to completely ignore someone either
Looking at an offer from a Series E startup and trying to figure out if this is worth it. I’m at 2 years post-MBA at a Big 4 (current TC right around 200k). New TC would be right around 200k, but would be like a 25% reduction in base - I like the role and the team but I dunno if that kind of base reduction is common for consulting exits? I see a lot of TC improvements, but wondering if those folks see a base jump too? Thanks!
Does anyone work in the internal tax groups for the big 4 or midsize. Can anyone give me some insight.
Any chance of getting into M7 MBA directly from mid-tier FDD? I did 2 years in big 4 audit (including promotion) before making the transfer. End goal is IB.
Why are the Big 4 considered to be the best places to work and best consulting firms? Other than prestige and brand I don’t understand why they’re consistently rated and regarded so highly
How many of you use Google classroom? If not, what do you use instead and how do you like it? (just paper/pencil is a valid answer).
Does it make sense strategically to lateral from T2 to MBB in the next few months (assuming late summer start) if I want to do 2022 on-cycle? Will funds care that I’d only have a few months of experience at MBB / would I be poorly perceived for wanting to leave MBB after a year?
Happy Friday everyone. My gig canceled, looking for an end of year project or post work. Large or small, hit me up, let’s make it great. Thanks. Enjoy the weekend. We just finished this global project so smaller is ok too... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRnKOg1_dCM
Down because I got some upsetting (work-related) news yesterday. I was up for promotion and did not get it, basically for my actual job that I have been acting in for over a year. I had perfect reviews and perfect on the technical portion of the interview. Apparently they dinged me on something subjective relating to situational competencies. Colleagues—who I trained and mentored—did receive promotion and we will all be working at the same job, just them at higher level and pay. Contd.
Interviewing at Mckinsey. Need help with case interview prep. Any suggestions beside self-help books?
Deloitte folks do we get taxed on our fitness subsidy? Is there difference between directly using our Amex vs a manual expense?
How can I negotiate an offer from a top tech company offering a Software Engineer position. Currently working at Deloitte where my team promised unlimited wfh and here the work life balance is top notch. Tech company has a very bad repo of bad work life balance and it’s mandatory to work from office. Average basic salary for this position is 15L per Glassdoor and other websites but they’re offering me 13L YOE-3 Stack-Python/AWS
Any idea on what lifestyle looks like for Principal/ Director levels at KKR Capstone? Someone reached out for a role and I’ve honestly never considered PE Ops because of my perception that WLB will be worse than MBB.
Sibling has no self-control. Covid has brought out the worst in him. He constantly stays inside his bedroom, sometimes for days at an end. Works from his bedroom, plays video games in free time, orders food & eats in his bedroom. Is not motivated to do anything or interact with anyone. These tendencies existed before pandemic but has gotten significantly worse during. Any suggestions on how to help him
What’s the biggest offer negotiation you were able to make for FAANG + Microsoft for a non-engineering role? I’m in the process of negotiating. TYIA 5yoe in supply chain
Wow started interviewing with a couple of tech companies, we are getting shafted on compensation. What other industries pay more than consulting?
I teach PreK in a public school. Our state allows PreK programs to nap without masks if proper ventilation is provided. I have 16 children, a minimum of 3 feet apart, no masks, with two LOUD air filters, two tiny windows open, the outside and hall door open, at average in 72-76 degrees. What is your childcare classroom doing for rest time?
Got a zoom link for interview. Checked zoom link about 1 hour before interview time to ensure it works. Turns out it’s the link to the interviewer’s room where he’s holding an unrelated meeting with other people, there was no passcode, so I quickly exited. No webcam or audio on from my side. Cause for concern? I would think best practice is private zoom link with code to enter…
Senior Managers and Partners: What would you think of a manager that performs well by all measures (though doesn’t necessarily exceed all expectations, but smokes weed just about every night to unwind? Would it be an issue when it comes to deciding on a promotion?
I just booked my first solo trip - skiing in Aspen - after an year of pretty low lows I figured I might as well give it a try and seek something new and fun and exciting… feeling like a total loser for not having a friend to ask to join me but hoping that this will be a positive experience… if anyone here has tried solo trips before - do you go out to dinners by yourself in the restaurants or just grab stuff for the Airbnb / hotel? Feels a bit strange to eat alone …
Is it worth taking a ~20% pay cut for a product mkt role in tech? Imagining more interesting work and better WLB. Company has IPO’d with good growth trajectory (hence equity may grow). Honestly the pay cut would not affect my quality of life but it’s so hard to not think of the opportunity cost and that I will make the same as a first year associate. 6 YOE + MBA with no solid technical experience, 2Y mck EM
Got my contract position converted to associate. Any scope for signing bonus negotiations? Or should i just let it go?
