Has anyone noticed a decline in their eyesight since starting work? Second year associate noticing my eyes are struggling (I have had contacts/glasses my whole life) much worse than they usually are nine months post-eye exam. Any tips for decreasing the damage?

Yes. Same boat as you. I use blue ray glasses and try to follow the 20/20/20 rule (every 20 minutes, focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds)

like

Yes. Just had my eye exam. See your doctor to follow-up. Mine said my eyes are strained and she’s thankful I came in when I did as it could do long term damage if not addressed. New glasses are an absolute dream 😍

Used to go to an optometrist who said "lawyers are the best clients - great insurance and their eyesight keeps getting worse and worse." So go see an optometrist and get the right prescription, I recommend glasses at least while you're working bc contacts move around after prolonged reading and they dry out, and to take regular 60 second breaks from looking at your screen. I used to couple it with the pomodoro method, 25 min of work 5 min of just looking away from the screen.

Problem is whenever I can look away from comp, I go directly to phone

I actually developed an entire eye problem where I now need to do physical therapy for them ….

Yep, get glasses!

Yup! My eye doctor said it’s common with lawyers. Got me blue light glasses.

Yes, my prescription also changed every year of law school. Blue light glasses, look away from screen periodically (as suggested above), and remember to blink regularly.

Yes! Go to your eye doctor. There’s all sorts of new eyeglass frames with blue light blocking built in. There’s also blue-light blocking computer screen shields you can buy.

After months of anxiety and depression I finally decided that mid- December I shall resign. The decision gave me so much mental ease and I looked forward to mid-Dec with such excitement that my depression faded away.
Now its mid-Dec and I'm not depressed/ anxious anymore. Can't recall why I wanted to resign so badly a month ago.

One vicious circle this seems.

When is the right time to ask for a raise in salary? Nearing the end of my first year at current tech startup. We don’t have a formal process to request a merit or cost of living salary increase that I know of… there’s less then 15 people in our company. I made a big no no when joining the company and did not negotiate the salary before accepting. Should I informally chat about future compensation to my boss? He’s a pretty laid back guy and I think he may be flexible with me.
