Running a background check can be a timely process. I have seen hold ups a little longer than two weeks due to common names or even extensive work background. I would not dispute the fact that it would take that long. It covers different entities of a persons background not just one category.
Is this for a bigger sized company or a smaller one? They typically take about two weeks for the whole run down, but it could still be subject to change for larger companies and could take longer.
That sounds pretty normal. They usually take 1-2 weeks to do the background check in general. And then if you have a dispute its normal for that to add a week or two to that timeframe. For some reason First Adantage seems to be incredibly slow.

That sounds typical. It usually takes about 2 weeks.
Are you staying with the current employer? I don't understand what offer they would be giving you for leaving?
That is what we tell employees also. Usually it comes back sooner than that.

Dispute is a legal process under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They have up to 30 days to complete it.
I'd say the usual timeframe would be 1-2 weeks. But you should also consider the size of the company. How many employees are there?
