Has anyone qualified for PPP if you’re an independent contractor but only had W2s from multiple agencies during 2019? (No 1099)

Had a couple 1099s last year, but essentially operated at a ‘loss”. Asked my accountant and said I wouldn’t qualify because I hadn’t billed enough to meet the threshold. But because of the W2s you can qualify for unemployment. Not as lucrative, but worth it to stay afloat.

It’s all based on your schedule C net income off of your 1099s so I don’t think it would be possible to get PPP under this scenario. I had a mix of 1099s and W2s and only the 1099 income counted to determine my PPP amount.

Same here. I had income from W2 and 1099, and they calculated my PPP loan based only on 1099.

If you haven't already, file for unemployment immediately.

We are a two attorney firm in our second year of business. Thinking about whether we should change the structure for the new year. Right now everything is a 50/50 split and we take monthly draws. Thoughts/ideas on a better structure? Should we go on payroll? Start doing origination credit?
