I’m a Human Resources coordinator at a call center with 1 year of experience. (1,000+ employees)
I’ve been offered a job as an Admin Asst to the Chief of Police. (Less than 100 employees)
I’m a little nervous about the work culture because I’ve met some pretty toxic cops in the past but this group seems awesome! They’re asking me to do a credit check, background check, and I did my fingerprints with them today. -Is that a normal thing to ask? Also, any tips on making this type of transition?

Try to take a two week pto. Call it emergency or whatever.

If you don't need the $ quit
Yes I just put in my 2 weeks. It feels great. I have an interview lined up today and will start applying to more places tomorrow. I think once you know this isn't for you it was a huge mental relief to have more control in where I'm going and knowing what I don't like. To caveat though, I'm pretty well situated for the next 6-12 months with savings so I have that to fall back on.

Maybe earlier this year...but now right now in this climate.
I quit my last job as I was interviewing for D. I had nothing guaranteed but I was also interviewing with multiple companies—I was confident I was going to land somewhere with the month.
It was unnerving and liberating at the same time. I enjoyed the time off and the interviewing stress was less than what I was feeling at my last job.
As for my fall back plan, If I didn’t start a new job within a month, I was planning on bagging groceries.
I did 5 years ago. I joined a firm as a recent college grad and I hated my manager. She made my life hell. So after 8 months one morning I woke up and put in my two weeks. Took me about 9 months to find my current job.
Yup. I saved up 4 months of an emergency fund and quit. Gave me enough time to relax and look for something else. Worth it. I doubled my income in 1.5 years, while it would’ve taken me 8 years to make what I make now if I had stayed at the old job
