I did the scholarship program but have a friend that did the repayment. It’s definitely worth it but the tricky part depending on where you are located is that you have to work at a facility that fits the criteria. I had to move for two years to work because the closest place was farther away but still worth it. I would just look up facility requirements first. They have a facility search site where you can see which ones are located in your area then go from there. Typically they are rural facilities.
In terms or supplementing income, neither of us had to do that. I got a stipend throughout school but she just had to provide proof of employment every now and then. You get your regular pay just have to do a few extra steps once a quarter or twice a year (I can’t quite remember what their schedule was)
Thank you! My base pay is kind of low, and because I’m kind of stuck being staff for two years, and can’t travel….
I was wondering if people had to get PRN jobs.
I did but it wasn’t with the pay cut in retrospect. I realized I can get a different job at market rate and pay off my loans more quickly in a lower stress environment.
That’s my concern. I would like to make more money, but accepting the award prevents your from traveling to potentially earn more
Interested to know too... maybe it would push me to go back to school
