When you get a break from making decks, what do you do to keep the creative juices flowing and avoid burnout?
I have worked with Forbes top companies, for-profits, non-profits, & startups. I consider myself a solver of complex & complicated problems requiring mixed method research & novel solutions. This has led to issues in self-referencing title. I’ve been project manager, data engineer, developer, modeler, analysts, principle DB developer, etc. Most of my w2 work has been from offers of 1099 clients so I am usually asked to define my own title. Any T-shaped data people who run into this?

I’ve been a recruiter for 20 yrs, but am still young. First 10 yrs were Corporate TA; most recent 10 are with Agency. For the majority of my career, I’ve been passionate about my job. I navigated the highs and lows and was always enthusiastic about starting each workday. We recently had leadership changes that affect me negatively…. But my job is still intact. However, I have lost my mojo. Reviewing Recruiter job postings does nothing to inspire me.

Anyone from L&W here able to comment on Carlos Ghosn's case? That escape was something straight out of a movie, I'm still chuckling about it.
Can I use a 3P task app/website like Todoist or wunderlist organize my to do lists or projects? Not sure if it would violate some sort of rule since it would be on a separate website.
Do you feel like there’s an unspoken rule to work more right now? Because what the fuck else would you be doing I guess. Also I hate all my friends that are in non stop chill mode
What do you call the litigation tactic (especially in discovery) where OC hounds you to hurry up on everything, then they drag their feet and do bare minimum in return? "Speed-up slow-down" tactics?
Received a 15% increase from current firm, considering lateraling for 60%+ increase. But at my current firm, I love my partners, work is okay, WLB is good. Any advice? Any support/encouragement to still lateral?
I need advice. I am going to be very honest and transparent. I feel like I am in a rut. I have been licensed for five years, litigated for 3. I have always worked in publix service but recently realized I have lacked in instruction and guidance and consequently I feel like I made mistakes. Any advice welcome.

Can anyone give me the DL on JD mortgages? Apparently you can get one with 0 down payment and no PMI?
I’ve recently finished my clerkship and started working at a firm with a salary of $102K and has a billable requirement of 1975. After asking around this seems a little out of the norm, is this common?
Student Loan ReFi: with the fed signaling yesterday they may raise interest rates earlier than expected, is anyone still waiting to refi until we get closer to end of forbearance on May 1, rather than locking in a lower interest rate now? I understand the loan forgiveness angle, but I’m a high earner with high loan balance and doubt I’d qualify for any forgiveness so locking in a lower interest rate is becoming more appealing to me.
Imposter Syndrome Reality Check and the Power of IDK
“If you're great at what you do, people come to you for answers.
For lawyers especially, we're paid to have answers for our clients.
So saying "I don't know" can feel weak. It triggers our imposter syndrome.
But sometimes, it's the most powerful thing you can do.
Because you can then lay out a plan to find the answer. You can tap the right people.
And chances are that you'll arrive at an even better result.”
Do you all work weekends (non-govt attys) as a matter of practice? Do all partners/shareholders work weekends? If I have trials to prepare for or motions to finish I do, but I am unsure if this is the standard or if it’s every weekend. I once had a partner at my firm tell me he worked 6 days/week and would only take Saturdays off if needed. 5 year atty in ID in TX for context.
A partner keeps asking me specifically why a document is drafted a certain way or things like “did we really not include X?” I didn’t draft the document, a senior on the team did who is apparently fine with leaving me out to dry. What’s the best way to handle this? Is there a way to ask the senior to address the questions without sounding too passive aggressive? Or do I just let the partner know that I don’t have insight into why since I didn’t draft it?
The recent most billable hours post, inspired me. What is your longest billable day? Mine was 56 hours straight with no break—and the partner was more than a jerk when I was saying no more at the 30 hour point. That was two 24 hour billable days back to back on my time sheet and on the bill, a 360 hour month, and 650 aggregated for two months. And it is one reason (of so many reasons) why this job can suck so much! At least I got a good bonus...
Any tips for how to turn down offers (mid-sized firms, NYC) without burning bridges? I really connected with the name/managing partners at these firms, but don’t want to lateral because I am not sure I’d like the work they do enough to justify the paycut at my level (the work is rather finance/NY focused). To preserve the possibility of joining later, I want to send appreciative emails to the partners, but don’t feel like I can give my real reasons without looking bad. Any tips?
For those whose firms cut salaries at the start of the pandemic, has full salary been reinstated? If so, has your firm made up the shortfall retroactively or committed to do so?
Anyone in marketing law? Just started a new job looking for any recommendations (books, blogs) to brush up on.
A few yrs ago me and my best friend left a modest size "eat what you kill" firm where I did very well. Both of us agreed personality conflicts bt partners made it an unhealthy place. Over the last 5 yrs, we have "shared and shared alike." I have brought in $7M in revenue. He has brought in $2.5M in revenue. We don't want 2 go back 2 "EWYK." I'm looking to suggest a "big case" bonus of a certain % coupled with a % boost over certain revenue #'s. Looking 4 successful plans from u. 4 attorneys.Go!

I'm a lawyer by training, work in finance by choice but also start businesses and eventually grow them or sell them with a specific business model I believe works. So when people ask what do you do how should I answer? I always say lots of things lol.
