I have worked with Forbes top companies, for-profits, non-profits, & startups. I consider myself a solver of complex & complicated problems requiring mixed method research & novel solutions. This has led to issues in self-referencing title. I’ve been project manager, data engineer, developer, modeler, analysts, principle DB developer, etc. Most of my w2 work has been from offers of 1099 clients so I am usually asked to define my own title. Any T-shaped data people who run into this?

Advice for getting past burn-out.
I’ve been a recruiter for 20 yrs, but am still young. First 10 yrs were Corporate TA; most recent 10 are with Agency. For the majority of my career, I’ve been passionate about my job. I navigated the highs and lows and was always enthusiastic about starting each workday. We recently had leadership changes that affect me negatively…. But my job is still intact. However, I have lost my mojo. Reviewing Recruiter job postings does nothing to inspire me.

Student Loan ReFi: with the fed signaling yesterday they may raise interest rates earlier than expected, is anyone still waiting to refi until we get closer to end of forbearance on May 1, rather than locking in a lower interest rate now? Imposter Syndrome Reality Check and the Power of IDK

“If you're great at what you do, people come to you for answers.

For lawyers especially, we're paid to have answers for our clients.

So saying "I don't know" can feel weak. It triggers our imposter syndrome.

But sometimes, it's the most powerful thing you can do.

Because you can then lay out a plan to find the answer. You can tap the right people.

And chances are that you'll arrive at an even better result.”

Do you all work weekends (non-govt attys) as a matter of practice? Do all partners/shareholders work weekends? If I have trials to prepare for or motions to finish I do, but I am unsure if this is the standard or if it’s every weekend. I once had a partner at my firm tell me he worked 6 days/week and would only take Saturdays off if needed. 5 year atty in ID in TX for context.

A partner keeps asking me specifically why a document is drafted a certain way or things like “did we really not include X?” I didn’t draft the document, a senior on the team did who is apparently fine with leaving me out to dry. What’s the best way to handle this? Is there a way to ask the senior to address the questions without sounding too passive aggressive? Or do I just let the partner know that I don’t have insight into why since I didn’t draft it?

The recent most billable hours post, inspired me. What is your longest billable day? Mine was 56 hours straight with no break—and the partner was more than a jerk when I was saying no more at the 30 hour point. That was two 24 hour billable days back to back on my time sheet and on the bill, a 360 hour month, and 650 aggregated for two months. And it is one reason (of so many reasons) why this job can suck so much! At least I got a good bonus...

A few yrs ago me and my best friend left a modest size "eat what you kill" firm where I did very well. Both of us agreed personality conflicts bt partners made it an unhealthy place. Over the last 5 yrs, we have "shared and shared alike." I have brought in $7M in revenue. He has brought in $2.5M in revenue. We don't want 2 go back 2 "EWYK." I'm looking to suggest a "big case" bonus of a certain % coupled with a % boost over certain revenue #'s. Looking 4 successful plans from u. 4 attorneys.Go!
