Your insurance likely covers it, even out of network. I have not seen any stigma, in fact in my firm associates openly mention it in conversation and someone even asked to move an internal meeting because it overlapped with their therapy appointment. Your firm is better off with you benefiting from therapy.
Yes! I started seeing an therapist when I was going through a really tough period at work (way too many hours for me). It was really helpful to reduce stress and anxiety. I found that it was less the hours that was causing my stress and more the responsibility, conflicts with partners, and other such issues. My therapist taught me to not internalize that stress and techniques to stay mentally healthy. It truly made me a better lawyer. My firm had an employment assistance program (outside of insurance) that covered it. No one knew about it. I would highly recommend.
no shame or stigma with therapy at all. at least not in my v20.
Yes, yes and no. Best thing I’ve ever did was see a psychiatrist and therapist.

I’ve been in therapy before for different things (e.g. grief counseling) but never for a long period of time. Earlier this year I started seeing a therapist once a week and it has been life changing for me as a first year. Has helped me weather some tough times at work and draw boundaries early in my career.
Yes, most likely yes and no.
I feel like most people have a therapist (I probably should but don’t). No stigma at all. It’s taking charge of your mental health in a professional that constantly grates on it.
Thanks everyone!
