Yes, both, went on leave. Went to in patient and go to AA meetings. Been sober over 2 years. No one at kpmg knows minus my senior manager who I told on my own volition.
How much were you doing to feel you needed to do this
I definitely struggle with Adderall addiction but is it that bad to take daily? What are the negative short and long term effects? My doctor who prescribes it seems to avoid the question whenever I ask.
“Body out of whack” is a really good way to describe how it makes me feel as well
Yes, Adderall for yeeeeeears. I stopped taking it, continued to work while I got clean (that was a once in a lifetime thing, if I relapse, I’ll need inpatient, I imagine), and go to meetings. No one at work knows but plenty of people know I don’t drink. Best of luck! Ask for help, try a program, go to rehab or take time off if you need it. You should be your top priority when you decide you want to get off of it. 💛
No drinking is key as well. Most of my coworkers know I don’t drink and don’t care.
What would you all consider addicted? I take a 18mg time release methylphenidate 3 or 4 times a week. I feel quite dependent on that and have for 6 or 7 years. I definitely feel healthier when I don’t take it...just curious how bad my ‘problem’ is comparatively?

Yes I’ve struggled with Adderall (and still struggling tbh) I’ve had health issues from it and they haven’t resolved sadly
Can you go to aa meeting for stimulant issue ? Do you have to decide you want to be totally abstinent ?
Has anyone had success with switching to Modafinil and/or Wellbutrin?
Yes!! Took a week off, went home to my parents house for the week, just slept a lot. Came back after and was scared to death that I literally would not be able to work or have this job anymore without it. Truly had convinced myself i could not do anything without it. And you just take it day by day. Here I am - 3 years later and seriously thriving. Yea I miss the jolt and endless productivity every now and then, but life’s better without it. Plus I get a little glimpse of the jolt for a few minutes if I drink a Venti Starbucks really fast !
L-tyrosine supplements helped me. Not comparable but offsets the crash a tiny bit.
