Powder I used this to prepare the right amount per bottle: https://beabausa.com/food-storage/21-formula-and-snack-container-peacock.html#home
I brought powder and found out you can bring bottled water through too! Just have to take it out and tel them it’s for Baby.
I've taken 8+ bottles of the 2oz similac ready to feed formula on a plane many times. Just take it out of your bag.
I’ve brought bottled water through TSA in the diaper bag. They looked at it, but said good to go since it wasn’t open. Same with liquid formula. PreCheck makes things a lot easier too.
If it’s an openable container (breastmilk, water thermos, etc) they will generally open and do a vapor test (hold a strip of paper near the opening for a few seconds). If it’s not open but is transparent (water bottles, some baby food pouches), they put it in a machine that shines some kind of light through it. And if it’s not open and not transparent (like cartons of milk, some baby food pouches, unopened formula) they will swab the outside as they would with your hands in a random screening. But in any case you will be allowed to take them through in pretty generous quantities if it’s for a young child. I have brought through quart sized thermos with near boiling water with large cans of formula because I had a baby who refused to drink any formula or milk unless it was warmed to 100F+.
(Sometimes you get people who will be more lenient and just do a visual inspection or let small quantities pass but the above is the strictest TSA testing I have experienced for each type.)
Great thank you!!
Thanks K1 - I wonder if I can bring a big bottle (32 oz) if its sealed..
OP, are you planning to use it in flight? The problem with the big bottle is that needs to be refrigerated once you open it, right?
Yes planning to use in flight. Was going to bring cooler bag and ask flight attendants for ice.
Thank you all - this is very reassuring !
