Yes! I did last year for Ross and got in. I did it for two reasons: 1) I didn’t have the best scores (sub 700), but I felt like my story and YOE was strong enough and now was the time (for context, 6 YOE with an accelerated promo cycle). 2) I had plans to take the test again but was worried facilities may shut down due to COVID spikes at the time (which was actually a concern for the US). I did not have an appropriate environment or internet connection to take it home, and if my center shut down I would have no way to take the test again before R2 apps were due. I wrote my waiver application truthfully, and I was true to myself and my MBA story, and they must’ve saw that because I got the waiver and got in! In your case, I think it would be appropriate to site your CPA because everyone knows how dedicated you had to be to study for, take, and pass those exams. I think it’s about showcasing your abilities in the past in a way to say that you can do it in the future if needed - not using it as an excuse per say on why you have crappy test scores. I didn’t say I had crappy test scores, I just said I was better than the ones I got in comparison to my professional accolades 😉 Also, not sure if it matters to you, but they SAY it doesn’t impact scholarship…but I didn’t get any. I am sponsored and plan to go back to D so it wasn’t the end of the world, but definitely a bummer seeing everyone else who got money thrown at them on this app.

Update - received waiver and hoping to apply r1 (9/20 deadline)

My understanding having gone through the process with Ross last year (no waiver) was that they just assessed your quant capabilities in other ways. It’s unlikely any STEM PhDs are applying to b school so no you don’t need to hit that requirement lol. What was your major (STEM?)? How well did you do in math / Econ / finance classes in undergrad? How much does your current job require modeling / financial analysis etc? Those will be the metrics that Ross will look at when evaluating your candidacy. (I was accepted to Ross, but am heading elsewhere)

like

Agreed, I made sure to highlight the STEM classes I had in undergrad (and said I got a B or higher in all of them - which I did), in addition to my data analytics and financial modeling work I’ve done at D.

You should take the gmat with your stats. Gmat is also used in IB recruiting

like

700+ Some people will tell you that it’s 720, but i believe 700 opens the door to the interview. It’s not a hard and fast rule if you’re exceptional elsewhere but it is a somewhat stern line in the sand.

like

People who reasonable should ask for waivers are people with STEM phds etc. You have a very standard pre-mba profile so all of your competition will have gmat scores

like

I used a gmat waiver and got into Sloan this past year but tests score weren’t required so I didn’t have to apply for a waiver

I mentioned sponsorship on my app, not my waiver. I actually added it to my resume so technically all schools I applied to knew. However, I also answered the “what are your post MBA plans” question anyone asked with planning to go back to Deloitte. I personally have a high probability of going back, but I was also told that schools look for stats in people - like, a good GMAT score looks good on their class portfolio as does a guaranteed job following graduation. So if you’re sponsored by any company, it’s not a bad idea to make it known (apparently).

Anyone have experience with FDD at a B4 vs more of a specialized firm like A&M? I'd expect the latter to pay more, but curious if the deals worked on are actually different or there would be a diff vibe at an A&M tier.
