Hi, I’m travelling to Canada on PR status by July 2022. I currently work for one of the Big 4 consultancies (been here since five years). I would like to understand how much weight that would carry when searching for a job in Canada. Would it even matter? Also, can you suggest if it’s a good idea to approach job consultancies? If yes, any recommendations? PwC EY Deloitte KPMG

Yes they readjust salaries once a year at Deloitte even if you switch offices on your own
I'm in consulting and talked to my director less than 2 months ago about this same topic.
If it is your choice, usually not a match. If they ask, they readjust. International usually puts you on a local contract at the local salary range.
Op -- they will readjust for international moves, unless temporary. As you progress it matters less. Senior partner comp, for example, is equal everywhere in the world. One firm.
^is that in advisory? There hasn't been a COL adjustment in consulting in like 10 years or so
Is McK a single global firm? The big4 are a "network of firms" so moving internationally is a colossal shit show. And as a PS, industry "expat packages" are a gazillion times better than consulting ones
I was told that we didn't readjust to the market if you moved on your own to a higher cost location.
Look into local salaries before you switch, OP. McK salaries are based on local market salaries for consultants, not cost of living, and salaries for all US offices are the same. Net result of that weirdness combined with Brexit's impact on the GBP is that McK comp in Dallas is 40% higher than McK comp in London. And that's before accounting for significantly higher taxes in the U.K. Benefits outside the US are often worse too.
Thanks folks. I joined a satellite office and would be looking to move home in a year or so. Comp here is 55-60% below US markets...
