That’s kinda weird.

No, just paid out of pocket when it wasn’t offered.

like

Not weird. But lame. And same — yes out of pocket.

I have found vision coverage to be useless. I decline it and just pay for the eye exam, contacts, and glasses. It works out about the same.

like

I wouldn’t sweat it. By my analysis every year, you barely save anything vs. out of pocket once you pay for the premiums for vision and dental given the low caps on coverage and limited provider networks. Then again, I pay 100% of my premiums as a partner, so it would depend on how much the employer subsidizes. Even so, dental plans tend to have low lifetime caps on coverage, and you can usually get discount from LensCrafters that makes your out of pocket the same without insurance vs. the marked-up amounts they charge to insurance.

Sometimes your annual eye exam and cleanings are covered through medical. Check your plan document.

Hi all, Need your advice. One of our worker’s wife is fighting cancer. We know that he needs to take care of her and work the same time to cover medical bills. So we decided to collect money for him. Should I do it secretly and only let him know after I’m done collecting money or should I get his permission first? I need to figure out which way would be less uncomfortable for him. Thanks!

I really do not understand my company's attendance policy. No sick or personal time and each time you have unscheduled PTO it's considered an occurence. Its super restrictive and during a pandemic you risk people coming to work sick spreading what could potentially be Covid. I just don't get it. I understand they are running a business but it just shows you really don't care about your employees at all but yet you want them to care about this company and the work being done here.

I got a call from my almost 3 year olds school saying that my son has been crying for me a lot. Also at bed time, he begs to sleep with me. Once we get him into his bed, he typically screams I want you mommy for 20 minutes till he falls asleep. This breaks my heart so I’ve been cuddling with him but the problem is that will last till 9pm and I have stuff I need to do. He pretends to be sick to avoid school but tells me he likes school but would rather stay home with me. He goes daily from 830-5

Recently lateralled to a new firm and I have mild “PTSD” from my old firm 😶 everything from the way docs are saved on the system, file naming, email writing style, team conventions etc - I keep thinking any small mistake would get me yelled at / be at the receiving end of snarky or passive aggressive emails but people at my new firm are so lovely and far from that. I’m trying really hard to move past this and my new colleagues are probably getting sick of my questions 😂 Anyone else can relate?

I'm new to the corporate world. I make 55k per year as an EA. House payment 500/mo. All insurance (not including health) $1200 in set monthly expenses, some small random medical bills & a 23k medical bill when my husband had a heart attack & we had no insurance. I max my hsa & 11% goes to my 401k each check. I have 7k in savings. Where do I start? Idk how to invest or how to even begin building wealth in my situation. Can someone please help me? I'm 48yo. Getting a very late start!

Ladies, as we get our Black Friday deals this week, I hope you check out givebackbox.com— they ask you to reuse shipping boxes to donate clothes/other goods, and give you free shipping labels. I’m lucky to have what I have, as many of us are. During the holidays, I try to donate clothes so that they have a second life. I used to bring bags of donated clothes to Goodwill but given covid, Give Back Box’s free pickup is probably better. Hope you join force!

Had a phone screen with BCG recruiter today. As a current Big 4 manager with a specific industry and function focus for ~7 years, when asked if I prefer Generalist or Expert track, I said I’m ok with either, because I love selling (Generalist) but I’m also very interested in continuing my existing focus (Expert). She said she can mark me down for both. What are everyone’s thoughts on not necessarily having a firm one-or-the-other answer?
