Has anyone taken a leave of absence for mental health from Deloitte? Did you need a doctor’s note? What other things did you provide?

I took one but at kpmg. I did a 3 month sabbatical and I did not need a doctor's note. I noted it under health and wellness. I only needed 2 signatures from my performance manager and practice leader. They asked no further questions.

Good point. Medical leave at kpmg would've been unpaid for me unless I claimed disability so that's true.

Yeah m thinking of taking a leave of absence as well. Not from Deloitte but following as I don’t know what is required to provide to employer

I did one at RSM and it was incredibly easy. I needed to have a form signed by a doctor at the beginning and end of my leave. I told HR I was planning to take a medical leave (didn’t say what for) and they helped me sort out everything I needed to do.

Yes, the third party who handles leaves gave me a form for them to sign. It was pretty much just saying sign here to agree that a medical leave is necessary.

I know the employer can’t fire you for taking leave but curious to hear if anything was challenging in returning to work in terms of employer being upset or overworking you after the leave or anything

Before I left for leave, I was in the verge of being put on a PIP. Upon mu return, leadership actually saw a huge increase in my performance and was actually really glad I took the time off to reset myself. I did not feel any negative impact to my career. Plus it helped that I did not indicate the reason for my leave and so I never "blamed" the overwork.

Has anyone tried getting out of their lease and been successful? I’ve been isolating out of the city for 3mo and will be here at least another 3mo, if not more. I have a senior director who needs a PIP. Plan was to meet w him today to start phase I (formal Learning Plan). Got a Teams msg middle of the night that he's in ER w gma. Ordinarily, I'd wait a few days at least, but the performance issues are real, have been going on (despite feedback and support) for months, and impact rest of team. He has issues w health, family, etc. at least monthly. I've worked hard to build a warm, supportive team and struggling now. Would appreciate ideas!

Less than a year before I can retire and not sure I can make it. The stress at home, work and with the aches and pains of my 54 year old body are taking their toll. I wake up every weekday and dread the coming 14 hour day. I live for the bliss of two days off on the weekend when I can attempt to just ignore everything until Monday morning.

So my bipolar dad got declined for a mortgage because disability gets shut off in < 3 years when he turns 65. So now he wants me to co-sign for him. Between housing markets being up, my concerns over his money mgmt, and concerns over tying up my credit there’s no way I can say yes. He sold his house before being approved for the new one he put in for (against my advice). I know he won’t understand and will take this personally, and the family will probably take his side. Gonna be a long week…

Where do I start if I want to take therapy?

Having trouble coping with betrayal and heartbreak from first relationship as a gay man. Ex lives in a city (town) that I’m staffed in long term (another 6 months). Flying in every week is so hard...

I’m having trouble staying on top of things that I know are important. I just don’t care most of them time and the. Maybe once a month I get all concerned and make a list then I only do a couple things on it until going into the funk again.

I just have to say that signing up for therapy (and finding my current therapist) was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I’m learning a lot about myself and how to live a happier life. I wish people could learn about these things without therapy. And I wish more people would be able to take advantage of counseling.

Getting to the point where some days I completely shut down. Cry in the bathroom at work. Can’t do anything. Next day I can manage it all pretty well. How do you deal with irrational anxiety whenever your boss is saying “hey let’s schedule 1:1, I’ve got a few things to discuss”? I’ve never had a bad performance rating before, quite the opposite I have received positive feedback. I also know 99% of the time this meeting is harmless and my anxiety has been proven wrong many times. But I’m still always on edge whenever this kind of meeting is scheduled. 😩

Also, yes I do go to therapy and have discussed this issue, but it hasn’t helped

Have you ever over promised but underdelivered to a client?

Performance reviews are coming up and I over promised on improving/ automating a process for a client. I suffer from anxiety and this is my first engagement going on my 3rd full week with the client. The directors and partners managing the relationship with the client are meeting with the client to discuss my performance for our yearly performance review.

My first therapy appointment tomorrow! I’ve never dealt with depression before having my second kid and my PPD was/is rough! Filling out the intake form I basically had to list out all the things I’ve dealt with - rape, mom issues, death in family during pandemic, kid hit by car, ppd, and a slew of over things… looking forward to working through these things over time, whatever that might look like.
