I definitely agree that a leave sounds like the better option. I had a coworker who did this and it was taken well by all sides. It also seems like you might need the leave just to rest and regroup. I have been in a similar position: drear every day, wake up wanting to cry, and not wanting to get out of bed. I was planning on sending an email about a leave soon myself. Let me know how yours goes!

Yeah I know two people who took health leaves (which I’m fairly sure were mental health but obviously didn’t dig into it) and both ended up elsewhere. It isn’t the most graceful way out but it’s better than a complete breakdown
I just started a leave of absence for mental health reasons. Considering looking for in house work while I’m out (I’m currently in big law) and doing exactly this. Good luck 💕
I am extremely lucky in that my law firm offers salary continuation for up to 12 weeks of leave (FMLA or non-FMLA). It’s only if the leave goes beyond 12 weeks that you’d have to figure out TDI. Wish I could provide more insight!

Totally agree! Part of what has been holding me back is that I want to take the time to figure out what is wrong and what I want and can do to fix it. But I’m also just reaching my breaking point, so trying to find the right path and balance.

A3, under what law? NJ Family Leave Act, Earned Sick Leave Law, or SAFE Act (what I mentioned)?
