Has anyone taken an unplanned vacation before? Asking for weeks off when just two days before you want it.

I live in a small studio apartment and my mother is visiting for just over a week from abroad. I’m anxious about being in each others face day/night since my desk faces my living space so I’m thinking of working from office all week as I don’t have time off. Any ideas on how I can make the space issue work and somehow keep her entertained?

About to start work travel again and will be traveling to WA from NY. Also, going to Asia in a few weeks for vacation (Cathay flight). I have a bit of points on AA. But thinking if I should switch to Alaska or Cathay? Idk if it matters and am new to this so hoping someone can steer me in thinking this out

After the MLK holiday, our district is returning to traditional f2f teaching 100%. Would you go on an international vacation shortly after a frozen embryo transfer (5-10 days after)? It is looking like my first transfer opportunity will be shortly before a trip I already have planned. I’d rather not wait, and the one time I have been pregnant before I implanted on a international vacation but I don’t know if this is a stupid thing to do? Trying to figure out holidays with extended family. My husband and I have young kids on the east coast. His sister and her husband live on the opposite coast. We have lived in the same city as my in-laws for the last 10 years, so it always made sense for my sister-in-law to fly back here to visit. Now in-laws are in Chicago. Does it make sense to ask everyone to come to us for holidays given that we have young kids and limited vacation time? Is that fair?
