I am on track to FI/RE in 9 years at age 42. But I am burnt out. Considering stepping away for 6 months to a year to do something cool, but don't want to fuck up fi/re. Help me see the forest through the trees? I've been a delayed gratification kind of person my whole life. Sick of waiting.
I’m realizing I have a lot of fear—mostly related to health stuff and death. Feel like people are getting sick left right and center (not talking about covid). I’ve never had anyone close to me become very sick or die—don’t know what I would do if this happened. I’m also overly concerned about my health and seem to be at the doctor every month to get something checked. Can anyone relate or provide suggestions on how to overcome something like this?
Can you be fired if on medical marijuana if used for medical reasons with prescription if company policy does not specify whether it's not allowed in recreational use only or simply just not allowed?
Can anybody suggest any books or resources to get smart on medical device marketing and/or medical device manufacturing?
Struggling with anxiety...anyone gone to a medical professional for this? Do you just go to a primary care doc first and then get a referral?
In a medical malpractice action, where a Charitable Immunity cap on liability applies to individual defendants as well as the defendant hospital, does the cap apply to each or globally as to the case? (Here, charitable cap for med mal is $100,000, is that for each defendant or total amount for case?)

I’m trying to take leave due to mental health/ burnout. Has anyone been successful in getting approved for Short Term Disability and /or FMLA via a therapist/licensed counselor (LPC) or do they need to be a psychiatrist? Thank you I’m advance 👍
How much do y’all keep in emergency savings? What does that account for? I am currently at home with zero expenses but want to keep some cash. Does having to pay a big medical fall into this account?
Curious how people budget for unexpected expenses (e.g. property tax, one-off car maintenance, house repair, medical, etc.)? Just from the "discretionary" budget? Wondering how to treat expenses that aren't large enough to be worth pulling from savings but large enough that my discretionary budget would barely cover.
My partner hasn’t been feeling well over the last couple days. Nothing severe, just slight malaise and fatigue. She told me she had contact with someone who was Covid positive but she’s in healthcare so that isn’t anything new. She was prepared. Today she was sent home from work and told to quarantine but has insisted on getting hugs and even coughed on me during one. We’ve been together for a LONG time. This is a pattern for when she gets sick but with possible Covid I expected more precaution
Are there any good ways to make money outside of a typical career job? I’ve tried audit and currently in advisory. The job just makes me depressed, and I’m thinking the accounting space just isn’t for me. My husband works, so I don’t have to worry with medical benefits etc if I quit. We don’t have kids yet so I need something to keep me busy, and I would like to still have an income and make decent money. Any ideas?
Exercise has always helped my depression but I’ve been sick and gotten out of routine. Tips on how to get back into it?
Junior working with ex v5 senior in M&A. He consistently asks me to turn major deliverables at the worst hours, think 10 pm Friday/Sat/Sun night “tonight” or “by tomorrow morning” even when there is no closing date in sight. When I push back he says my behavior is unacceptable. The times when I have been able to actually meet his expectations and give him the deliverable for review, he will get back to me with comments at least a week later. Sick of these false deadlines. Help
Does it make sense to open a HSA if I'm going to leave the country in 3 years and don't fall sick often?

Hi everyone. A PDM specialist here. Joined Deloitte 5+ years back as ‘Senior Solution Engineer -On-site’.Later in June 2017 all these ‘on-site’ folks got rebranded as PDM. Slowly started to realize how PDM is getting sidelined as a ‘discountable’ group. Sometimes I feel contract jobs are better than being at PDM , but obviously tied up with D for visa related issues. No career progression so far and don’t see any positive changes in the near future as well.I think it’s high time to call it a day.
Took PTO to make it a four day weekend...first few hours back today and I already feel stressed out, anxious and like I want to quit. Burn out or just advertising?
Anyone travel to Cabo recently? Going next week and curious about how they're handling Covid. Will be staying at the hotel the whole time, so not worried about venturing out
I recently got a verbal from B4 firm but have yet to receive the written (going on 2 weeks now). I have recently received another verbal offer from a different B4 firm. How should I negotiate with the original firm for more $? What would you say? This is my first time switching jobs so fairly new.
https://hbr.org/2020/01/what-top-consulting-firms-gets-wrong-about-hiring thoughts? Article mentions case interviews as a poor predictor of performance.
aside from salary, what would you personally negotiate in an offer and what can you negotiate? obviously vacation. paying for courses? attending conferences? relo?
I bet the US Government would get Covid under control pretty damn quickly if major corporations suspended campaign contributions in light of the economic environment.
Thoughts on paying job loss mortgage insurance? Currently don't have one, have owned property for a few years, but been thinking about it....
I did an initial interview with a firm Thursday morning. They asked for references and I provided them the following day along with my thank you note. In past experiences, I would have heard something by now unless they were not interested at all. Am I wrong to just write this one off?
Looking for advice, opinions. profile: New SM at PwC Canada, specialize in strategy, digital operations, analytics, performance management and finance. Strong performer - have only gotten ratings of 2s and 1s. TC is about $175k CAD - ~155k base + est 20k bonus (I used to get 15k as M, so est bonus at SM has to be at least 5k more)… Situation: I am actively being headhunted by IBM and Accenture. IBM has offer me 2 positions to choose from - continued…
For cross country projects (live in DC, project in LA), is fly day still Monday or is it usually Sunday?
Those that are coming on here talking about offers they are getting - for the most part is this people reaching out to you, or because you were actively searching and applying?
