Has anyone taken the entry level/early career Software Engineer interview at Google? I have 3 months to prepare for it and looking for some advice on a good preparation plan

When I've interviewed with Google it's been more about Manipulating Data Structures rather than heavy amounts of Algorithms. If you stored the data properly, how to solve the problem would be very intuitive. But that's been my experience interviewing with them, I'm sure there's other opinions.

Recently with Google, they let me setup a 30 minute conversation with a Google Engineer to chat. I like it when companies help me help myself when prepping for their interviews.

It's cliche, but Cracking the Coding Interview's Data Structure questions are always a good refresher.

Google also is setting up a chat with an engineer for me. Did anything that came up in your conversation help with your interview? Trying to come up with some good questions

Hey, do you already have a interview lined up?

Not officially, but I spoke with a recruiter who will set it up once I take a couple months to prepare

Hey Fishes, happy Sunday!

My sister had received an offer letter for the "Functional Consulting - Analyst" role on 7th September, 2021. Been over a year now but have not heard back anything.

Although when we were able to get in touch with an HR, we were assured that we would be receiving a call letter after a month/week but that was 4-6 months back... No correspondence since then.

Anyone in a similar situation? Is there a clear way to know when the call letter would be released?

Hi fishes,

Had an interview with Hexaware and 3 days back HR1 called me and said she will send the offer letter next week. 2 days back HR2 called me and said a client interview is scheduled for you and I attended that. Now if I fail to clear the client interview round, will I not receive the offer letter that is promised by the HR1?

which model deloitte usi banglore follows is it wfo or wfh?

Hello,
I have attended a TCS interview and cleared the HR discussion too. I was asked to upload the required documents and verified too. It's been a month since I received an update. I have called up HR and he said the requirement is frozen. Can I still expect an offer letter or they stopped it.
Now I cannot apply any more jobs also in IBegin portal. It says you cannot apply, becasue the status in portal is showing evaluation is in progress

Not really sure what the question is but just need some reassurance, I guess?

Hello fellow software engineers. This is my first professional career, I'm about 1 and a half years in and I kind of feel like I'm not learning as much anymore. Just doing tickets. Some stuff I know how to do and some I need support on. How do I keep progressing when things have gotten a bit meh?

Hi all! What are the differences between senior/staff SWE and software architects? Are architects still a thing? I'm causally searching for a new position (my job had a 50% layoff last month and the survivability of the company is sketchy) and I've noticed senior and staff SWE roles sound like they have a lot of architectural designing and leadership responsibilities while not focusing on coding as much. Is this normal? I love mentoring, but I also don't wanna be in meetings all day. 😕

When I asked the HR regarding what level it stands at? She said it's an internal thing and we can't disclose that. All I want to know is what is the Level there as L3, L4, L5 etc?
Also, I'm a little disappointed to see no gym allowance. And can anyone confirm if they provide sort of learning budget as well?

Question : What are the best bootcamps recognised by employers in the field?

I am just making a career change from retail to software engineering. I want to progress as quickly as I can, so i have looked at bootcamps. 12 week course and they help you with your cvs and i presume put you in contact with recruiting companies? The one i am working with has already let me down several times with their communication on what's expected. Its a lot of money to put up, but want a structure to work to.

How do you feel about your job? Either your current position right now or your general role as a SWE - do you genuinely enjoy it and have a passion for it, tolerate it and collect the paycheck, or hate it? Does the industry you’re in have an impact on your answer - e.g. FAANG vs. fintech vs. ed tech? Personally after switching companies I’ve gone from hating to tolerance, but I feel like I’m never going to be excited about what I’m doing.

I am a Web Developer based in Grand Rapids, MI. My primary focus is Magento development and managing / building the 7 sites my company owns. I do front and back-end development. I got a raise from $12.50 an hour as an intern to $22 an hour 6 months before I got my degree. I was happy with this raise initially. A year later, I am 6 months out of my degree and have 3 years of experience at this company. They gave me a 5% raise which puts me a $24 an hour. Is this fair considering I got my degree.

Serious question from a happy software engineer, what do you all love about your work/actually enjoy doing during working hours?

I'll start; I'm privileged enough to have been given the opportunity to work and learn deeply on Linux and Kubernetes, and I get to tinker and play with them all day. Problem solving with them is a "fun" part of my job.

Of course most things aren't roses and sunshine, but I'd love to hear the positive parts of what you are doing, or what you like to do at work.
