Has anyone taken the “fast money” route to FIRE (e.g., investing in risky stocks for fast short-term growth) or are most people saving, investing, and holding for the long haul? A lot of my friends and family are jumping into the market as a “get rich quick” scheme from what I can see.

IMO, if you are using the market at get rich quick, it’s tantamount to gambling. Yes, you could win big but you have to be prepared to lose that investment. It isn’t ideal from a sustainable future standpoint.

What are your friends investing in?

Trust me, none of them are getting rich quick right now. They don’t have thousands in the market. Most of the stock wins are suggestions from youtubers which I’m not a fan of.

I tried listing my home in October but got no interest so I opted for renting it out and waiting until next summer potentially. I'm seeing things start to move again in my area with the slight drop in rates. I'm just about breaking even on the rental, and there's the hassle of managing it from out of state. Should I try to sell it again now or continue to rent it out?

Hello Fb! I'm 30 yrs old. I'm trying to figure out and plan my life to set myself up for success in the future. I wish I had known things like enrolling in a high deductible health plan at 24 when I started work so that I could enroll in a HSA for the triple tax savings or the importance of maxing out a Roth IRA or maxing out a 401K and not just to the employer match. What are some things you wish you had known earlier or by age 30? In some ways, I feel like I'm late in the game. See more 👇🏻

Trying to figure out which is better (long term) to do between the following options
1.) Max out Traditional 401k + do backdoor Roth versus 2.) Contributing to and maxing out Roth 401k (if employer plan allows)… not sure if from a tax and long term growth perspective, one of these options makes more sense to do (or is there another option to consider for maximizing retirement contributions ?)
