My nanny was a single woman so she needed a full time income and it wasn’t possible to move to part time. I’ve heard this with one retirement age nanny who was looking to weather down hours anyway.

like

That’s a good point!

If she relies on full-time income, this is really unfair to ask of her

like

I would try to do a nanny share with another family, not just ask her to cut her income.

You should just ask her and be honest about your needs. Maybe it will work with her lifestyle and income (eg she wants to cut back for a year or so). Maybe not. No harm in asking, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

like

I think this works best when you are open to a share. That way nanny can get full pay but you only pay part and have another family contribute.

If she’s good and worth keeping, ask if she’d be willing to drop to just 40 hours a week while your kids are in school/daycare, and then do more cleaning/housekeeping tasks during the day so you could possibly cut down on other expenses like a cleaner or grocery delivery. In these times, it might be worth it to always know you’ve got back up care covered if a kid can’t go to daycare for a week.

Is it normal in a long term relationship for your significant other to not support what you do and talk to you like a child every day? We live together and I feel trapped. This is so hard.

Hi all! I was asked coordinate a local happy hour for my team. The issue I’m having is that I’m currently pregnant and am not sure if I’m comfortable to hang out with strangers. What’s the most professional way to say no without hurting feelings / burning bridges? Or should I suck it up and go?

Pregnant wife is having small portion meals lately, so i asked why she is eating less than usual. She read somewhere that eating too much can lead to oversized baby, making the delivery more painful, so it looks like she may be controlling the portion because of this. Is not eating enough a cause for concern?

Graduated law school, passed the bar, and started my job last summer. My wife and I got pregnant with our first sooner than we expected, and we're due in June. Any general tips/advice?

When does it make sense for a company to adopt a management structure where managers are in the field but also has direct reports (player coach model) vs. managers whose sole responsibility is to manage the team (I.e., no longer in the field)?

Great quote form Mimi Slater of @cosbar on motherhood and work: “I don’t think my career path has changed because I became a mother. But, I think my approach to work has changed for the better. I didn’t realize how hard it would be to leave a 12-week-old at home, but I’m so glad I forced myself to get to work in those early days. It took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but now I think that being a mother is a total asset in the workplace. I don’t waste a minute of my workday. I’m better at juggling priorities, and I think I’m more empathetic, certainly towards other working parents.”

Just had my second MC. Back to back. I waited a full year for my body to recover and be in optimal shape. My bloodwork was perfect. I did all testing with a fertility doctor. Everything was good. I got pregnant easily.. yet, I lost the baby at 6w5D. Last year I lost the baby at 8w5D. I feel so defeated. My heart can’t take more losses anymore. My first pregnancy was a breeze.. 2nd and 3rd.. ended in tears and sadness.

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

Hey guys… I’m a case worker in child safety and I’m someone who loves being outdoors/dies at a desk all day. I’m hoping to organise that at least once a week I can go to a cafe and catch up on all my case notes that need to go into the system. So far the only reason I’ve been told no is that “if you do then everyone will want to and then no one will be in the office” … how can I convince them that I work better out of the office and get this freedom & mental break for myself?

Hello Excel champs , need your help with the below screenshot. First table contains the master data with Parent and Child item details. Agenda - is it find out all the child items pertaining to make 1 unit of the corresponding parent item. In this example I took Parent Item A and exploded all the Child items and the required units to make 1 unit. Now the challenge is that I have a master data of 250,000 line items and I am trying to figure out the exploded version of all the Parent items.

I have 1 one year old and have told my husband that I want to get divorced. He is being immature about the process and is just trying to make everything difficult. Sometimes he says he will move out, then he says the baby and I should, sometimes he says he wants custody when the real reason im leaving is his lack of interest amd resppnsibility toward our family. I can tell he is hurt and is upset that i dont love him anymore and want to get everything ready to make the exit easy. How do I start?

Would you go on an international vacation shortly after a frozen embryo transfer (5-10 days after)? It is looking like my first transfer opportunity will be shortly before a trip I already have planned. I’d rather not wait, and the one time I have been pregnant before I implanted on a international vacation but I don’t know if this is a stupid thing to do? I have a very stressful job so maybe it would be good to be away from work?? Curious what others think.
