A friend invited me to visit as I was going through a rough patch in life and she’s aware that I don’t have many friends in my area. She said she feels bored too and repeatedly asked me to come see her. I did visit finally and her family and friends are almost like “why are you here?” It was very awkward explaining to them why I was there. She acted like she didn’t really invite me. Am I in the wrong for expecting her to not behave like this?

Commission plan discussion:
I was promoted to Director of Sales and am tasked with revamping our sales commission plans
We are in a high margin industry, the majority of the team’s sales are transactional, so they are quick closes, and they have a base around 60k
Current plan is: 3, 5, 6, and 8% of revenue depending on different factors
I am thinking of streamlining to make everything 10%. (5% paid upfront when they land the sale, 5% paid once invoiced).
Thoughts? Things to consider?
Curious... I seem to miss the early adopter sales waves at tech companies where AEs are making 7 figures. AWS, Snowflake, Google. Where’s the next big wave?

When I began in Enterprise Technology Sales (then Software, then Cloud), there used to be about an 80% success rate - those who met or exceeded their annual sales goal. The success rate now appears to be in the 10 - 20% range.
