Has anyone tried adding a Slack channel for HR related announcements and inquires? i.e. policy additions/updates, handbook related questions and ideas, benefits and open enrollment items, etc. Bonus points for channel name ideas. Looking for pros and cons of doing this.

Yes. We use ServiceNow for our HR help desk.

I’m an HRBP and I have a channel in the Teams sites each of my client groups has. I call it People Initiatives and Activities.

like

I should be clear that my company has a shared services team so I’m not addressing tactical questions around pay, benefits, process, etc. My channel is dedicated to HRBP topics - I have a monthly to-dos columns, I post info about performance, promotion, and comp etc cycles. But part of it is getting my name out so people know who to reach out to when they have a problem. I may (often) kick them to our shared services because their questions don’t fall under my domain.

We've tried, people all too often turn off the notifications for this channel but it is still worth it so you can prove that you did provide updates and information when you are questioned by angry employees later. For names try: important: read these notifications

We use slack for this, but just post to an all company general channel. Otherwise I doubt anyone would take notice

We have it and it has come in handy. There are alot of people who really utilize it. I def agree with the comment above about turning notifications off.

We still use it. We regularly post there despite knowing that most employees turn their notifs off. But they cannot argue that they didn't receive any updates. Lol

Hi everyone! I am working with my HR to improve our maternity/paternity leave policy. Currently I only get 2 weeks fully paid and then an additional 8-12 weeks at 60% pay (short term disability). I need some examples of companies with less than 100 employees and what your maternity/paternity policy is. Please include company name! Thanks!!!

For some of my students this is everyday due to parent work schedules and disability issues.
Is anyone else having this trouble? What are you saying to parents to cover yourself?

Anyone out there who left their previous job for a new one have any advice or life experience to share? I’ve been thinking about it for months but currently feel comfortable in my job/the products I work on. I’d say I have a great work/life balance but I do know that I could be making 20-30% more and have better benefits if I left. I also feel a bit stagnant in my job but the job security has kept me put. Would love to hear if leaving a comfortable job for more money is always worth it.

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

I was recently realigned to Kolkata location although my base location as per offer letter was Bangalore. The relocation HR PoC helped me relocate for now as WFH is going on & I wanted to save money by not changing to Bangalore as of now.

If someone knows EY GDS Kolkata offices, I'll like to know all about it, please. Thank you.

In this field, when choosing a masters degree program is it more beneficial to get a degree in Human Resources to further my knowledge in HR (my undergraduate degree is in Economics) , an MBA, or Data Science Degree due to the fact that HR is becoming more data driven as well as get a PHR / SHRM-CP certification?

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work.
