It was good if you’re in a rush to talk to someone, but having done both better help and in person counseling I prefer in person so much more. And the therapist that I got matched with, i felt like we didn’t really vibe, but you can always keep switching therapists until you find one that you feel is right for you!
It was worth it for me. I was newly married and couldn’t be with my husband for over a year as I was constantly on the road which put a lot of strain on our marriage and my mental health. So this was a blessing for me. Helped me keep my sanity while being on the road and also saved my marriage. However, it took me a couple of tries to find the right person and once I did, it was a life saver. I used it for over a year.
I did it for a brief period when I was really overwhelmed a few years ago - marriage wasn’t going well, work was extremely stressful, our beloved 3 year old cat was dying of an incurable disease, and I had been neglecting my health and had put on weight which led to high blood pressure. I ended up in the ER one night with my BP through the roof, and knew I had to make physical and mental changes. I liked the flexibility of BetterHelp and choosing my therapist. He was very helpful and gave me some calming exercises (breath work, progressive relaxation) to help with anxiety, and also helped me talk through some of my relationship issues. He also helped me cope with the anticipatory grief of our cat as well as its eventual passing. In the meantime, I prioritized drinking water, adding in vegetables, and exercising. I only did BH for a few months, but it helped take me off the ledge when I was in a low place. I’m now so much happier a few years later and grateful for that care.
Thank you for sharing your experiences, I appreciate it!
