Honestly, that’s just not a fight worth fighting. If you want more money, find a new job (should be easy) and if you want more money and to stay at your current company go get an offer and leverage (be ready to jump if they call your bluff)
Guaranteed way to make more money. Personally I wouldn't go for the retention option in the current firm.
What C1 said. Do you need to be right- well you are right. I got larger than ever bonus this year said my boss proudly but if you take into account that they took away the bonus the year prior to save money they basically gave me the same mediocre bonus as 2019, just rolled what was supposed to get in 2020. Since then I work twice as much and more responsibility and yes, the world is marching on as apparently does the inflation. Every firm has a bs math around this none of which would withstand any math like scrutiny- it is all marketing.

The most you can hope to accomplish with this is getting your boss to say “ok, it’s based on what we want to give and not on any actual logic”. So now it’s awkward and what did you get out of it?
Fair enough. I can see how the initial post comes across; my greater point was trying to gauge how some of the recent increases were being generated. Regardless of inflation I still feel 10% isn’t too generous for two years.
