An observation: I realized today that unless someone mentions their gender identity, I assume every post/comment I read on FB is written by a woman (apparently my default lawyer is woman) EXCEPT the whiskey bowl, where I assume posters are male. Implicit bias is weird. (Whiskey bowl not only lawyers, so maybe that's part of it.)

Have a bubbly personality + very petite/look very young. Find it hard for clients to take me seriously (to the point where have been asked for a date twice in the last year - not interested, happily married). I am a 46 year old attorney. My live-in partner of 6 years is a 51 year old non-attorney. He works hard from 8 - 5:30/6:00 and then is done for the day. Just a bit of a rant - I’m back to the office after a prolonged absence (a week in the hospital and six weeks of leave due to illness) and people keep commenting positively on my weight. I lost about 30 lbs in 7 weeks due to being sick, and I’m just starting to get an appetite back again. I’m still dealing with some health stuff but more or less had to go back as I can’t afford to be on employment insurance anymore. I know the comments are well-intentioned but I hate it 🙃

Hello ladies, I would love some advice. Do any of you suffer from not being able to cope with making mistakes? I have a meltdown and an anxiety attack when I make even the smallest error. I struggle to work after as I have butterflies in my stomach and feel awful. Wanna hear how toxic my female boss is? I encouraged a summer associate to apply for a clerkship with a pretty conservative judge that my friend (very lib) clerked for. Female partner is lib. I’m friendly with the judge and helped make the connection. Female partner dissuades associate to apply for various reasons, including politics, my encouragement, and empty promises to help with a clerkship closer to home. She has been toxic to me for years. Summer associate believes her over me 👍🏻

I got my first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Wednesday of last week and it has taken me out. I’d heard that the second dose could be bad but hadn’t heard too much about the first so wasn’t expecting it. I haven’t been able to work (or really do anything) and I’m struggling! Super dizzy and lightheaded, achey, and developed a fever today. It got bad enough that I called the helpline today and they were helpful but basically just said to monitor because not much else I can do. Anyone else??

Please help! I have been looking at options outside my firm and yesterday an in house counsel messages me saying he was moving to outside counsel and wanted me to join his external legal team. Has anyone ever experienced that type of transition? What should I ask? I am not sure if he is started his own firm and looking for an associate or for a partner and I am concerned about malpractice insurance and the fact we are located in different states. It is a company with multiple brands/clients.
