I don’t think you need to pay extra for Acela. NE Regional trains are perfectly fine
This is a heavy business travel route. You will see plenty of solo females traveling for work on Acela. FYI, flying is quicker on this route.
Flying is not quicker on this route if you need to get to the airport from Manhattan. It typically takes me 1.5 hours to get to the airport from Lower Manhattan. Plus precheck lines at NYC airports are always nightmares
I’ve done it, no safety issues. Got business class for comfort fwiw.
Thanks! Did you take the Acela?
My Mom regularly took Amtrak between NY and Boston to visit in her 70’s and well into her 80’s. She was always meeting people, getting a hand with her luggage, and never had an issue. It’s so much less of a hassle then the airport, (security, cabs, traffic and expenses!)
I don’t work for Amtrak !! 😂 You just sounded really concerned and I wanted to help. I know I sound a little over the top - it’s just nothing to worry about.
Is this a daily commute for work? Is she traveling coach or Acela? When I used to take Amtrak from Philadelphia to NYC and or Boston, I had no issues. Just pack as light as you can
Looking into travelling on Acela. Will be carrying 1 backpack and 1 carry on suitcase for a 5 day trip to NYC. Is it worth it to upgrade her seat to business or first class?
Perfectly safe I travel back and forth all the time as a solo female. Acela business is fine, nothing fancy and IMO worth the upgrade especially if you book two months out to get the best deals. Regular fare in coach is fine too if you get the $100 round trip deal.
DC to NYC. I’m a small human and I was scared at first but now I just sleep. I only bring an overnight bag.
Have you seen the train scene in joker ?
Pretty much as safe as travel can be. I've done this quite a few times now.
Train travel is safe and way better than flying imo
Yep. It was okay. Nothing special but it was smooth and safe.
