OP - Please consider Intermittent Fasting. It helped me. You can fast 15 - 16 hours fairly easily and is a permanent lifestyle change that is sustainable, if you do not have underlying major health issues that require you to eat frequently.
Im reading that book now. I need to finish it.
My friend and I started using it at the same time. She combined it with the exercise on her peloton bike and looks amazing. 6 months from starting she got to her weight level she wanted. I started off well and lost some weight but after 4 months I plateaued and couldn’t move down but also kept the weight off which is good. Stopped using it but it influenced my diet positively and made me hyper aware of calories intake I have. After 4 months I got tired of logging the food in but in my head I do a quick math these days. If you don’t exercise as my friend than you really need to pinch calories which means unless you feel hungry you aren’t dieting.
Thanks for the info. I’m combining it with biking which I actually enjoy and can stick with. What you’re describing for yourself is what I am most looking for - a sustainable, healthier relationship with food.

I have, and it worked for a while, but I found the “psychology” approach a bit annoying, to be honest. They assign you a “coach” but without considering whether your “coach” has any experience with your particular situation (my coach was a 27-year-old guy, but I’m a 50-something woman dealing with the hormone swings of menopause and I would have appreciated having a coach that I could relate to a bit better). I found weight watchers (now WW) a better overall program for really teaching me what to eat and how much.

Precisely, SC1! I found the constant posting of “inspirational” quotes and other similar conversations to be really obnoxious and intrusive.
I used Noom and lost 25 pounds (5 pounds more than my goal) and have been able to keep it off for over a year. I highly recommend it.
Why do you think it worked well for you? Do you still use it?
OP, another option to consider is FoodFuels - you can pick 1, 2, or 3 month plans customized for men or women, and it is a one-time charge (no subscription model like Noom - I have at least one friend who tried Noom and had issues getting them to stop charging her CC). I did FoodFuels last summer and lost 27 lbs in about 10 weeks. I was never hungry and if anything would be surprised when it was time to eat again. I felt great and energized. We’ve continued to make the recipes as they were easy to adapt for my family. I’m currently pregnant but planning to go back to FF once I am done breastfeeding because it was by far the best plan I’ve ever done. I was skeptical of their rules at first but everything is based in science and the results were amazing for me, and the recipes were easy and made up of real food / easy to buy groceries. I liked that there was no calorie counting (or obsessing) and I had the flexibility to make good decisions if we went out to eat. FoodFuels taught me how to eat and build a healthier relationship with food.
I used Noom for about 6 months and loved it! I found the psychology approach to be really valuable in helping me form healthier eating habits, and lost about 20 pounds (from 210 to 190) just through changing my eating habits. Then I plateaued and had to ramp up exercise to get to my target weight of 180. But I found that Noom helped me to be more mindful about how and what I eat, and to be better at mentally tracking my daily caloric intake to be sure I keep it at a reasonable level. So far I’ve kept the weight off for another six months after canceling my subscription.
I used weight watchers last year. Lost >16lb (138lb to 120/122lb) and easily keeping it off. The approach just clicked.

I have. It can help, but like the other here I gave up after a while. It wasn’t super easy to log meals and also be accurate - it’s not hard/challenging, it’s just a lot of “clicks” to do so and I was annoyed by that, but food logging and calorie tracking was by far the most helpful part of the app, I liked the red/yellow/green approach to foods; I didn’t find the coach or group to be helpful at all.
That being said, it can be a helpful way to kickstart your weight loss journey if you need it. Otherwise, use myfitnesspal or other to count/track calories.
Oh and also, usually if you put Noom in your shopping cart and then abandon it, they’ll send you nonstop deals. I got mine for 80% off which was the only reason I ended up signing up for it.
I always felt their tactics were a little sketch and their UI was second rate…but sounds like it works for a lot of people.
Lifting weights and eating the right macros works for everyone everytime.
