Question about Grant Thornton maternity leave policy. Can anyone tell me if GT requires a year of service before maternity leave benefits kick in? I was just offered a position that I really want to take, but have been actively TTC. Not sure what to do. (Crossposted from Consulting Moms)
Curious as to views on alt. inv. Anyone stray off the beaten path with any of the below? 1.) Bitcoin mining (aka worth the initial investment in the hardware?) 2.) real estate REITs - most likely through Fundrise 3.) peer-2-peer lending. 4.) cryptocurrencies 5.) franchising a (cheap) business 26M, debating if any of them will yield higher returns than my VTTSX fund, which I invest in through both 401k & Roth. Curious as to your guys thoughts.
Any tech recruiters in here? My wife has just completed her MS in Cybersecurity and has been working in UHC for 10 years, currently a research analyst. She has been literally carrying every department she has been promoted to with the highest reviews. She’s yet to break the ceiling even with a BA in Healthcare Admin.. So, she is hoping to find an opportunity that merges Cybersecurity and healthcare. What opportunities do you guys have either remote or in middle Georgia?
Has anyone heard of Kaufman Hall? What's the culture like? Reputation? A recruiter reached out to me about their healthcare practice and I can't find much online
Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?
NYC UI: I applied 3/9 and claimed weekly benefits every week while pending. My claim was approved 5/13 (with a crazy low of $182/wk). The NY Labor system now says I haven’t claimed my weekly benefits since I applied. Beyond frustrating.
Philosophical question (not trying to be political, just a genuine question I’ve been grappling with): do you think being pro-choice and pro-vax mandate are logically inconsistent? Both are sincere views of mine, but upon further reflection I haven’t been able to think of a way one position could be completely defended without undermining the other. Goes the other way for pro life/against vax mandates as well. The fact is, they just feel different to me, but I’m not sure why. Thoughts?
Are any of the healthcare agencies more creative than the others? Or all about the same?
401K Question - Very Confused. Just came to US and will be here for about 4 Years. Firm matches 25% of first 6% employee down. Some say, upon withdrawal, have to 40% tax/penalty / others say .. Contin

Anyone use BrainHQ and can speak to its benefits? I’ve been reading about it and doing the free daily challenges but now considering the subscription.
I’m between jobs, no longer have health insurance, & w/out a definitive start date. Really concerned what my options are going to be if I happen to get sick... anyone else in the same boat?!
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

I'm sorry if this is out of place, but is anyone interested in coming on my veteran podcast? I work for a Nonprofit Organization that provides supportive services to veterans in CA, NV and AZ and our podcast discusses issues relevant to veterans. I'm organically searching for veterans who are willing to talk about their experiences, mental health and healthcare, employment, case management, housing for the homeless, etc. We don't require you to be an expert on anything.
Back again with a question for the McKinsey folks! 1. Is it true that if you are internal (specifically PD) you are not eligible for a performance bonus? Just base and the 401K profit sharing? 2. I know McKinsey offers a percentage of your salary into a retirement fund. The recruiter painted it as a range (from 7-12%), but other fish in the main consulting bowl said it’s either 7 OR 12% (no in between) based off of if you’re client facing or internal - which is true? Continuing below:
The manager on my project likes to ask another more junior woman do some "admin" stuff, such as book meetings, take notes, and even book his flight!! I really want to help this junior woman not do the admin stuff that much. What can I do?

Looking to leave agency world and go client side in marketing/consumer insights/brand strategy. 5+ yrs strat experience agency side and did some brand mgt for a startup as well. After graduation I moved back home to save a bit of money. I am now 24 and want to move out this summer. I have very conservative immigrant parents that I know will be both angry and heartbroken when I tell them I want to move out. For those with similar parents - how did you have this conversation with them? I’m the oldest child and daughter and have spent most of my life trying to make my parents proud - the thought of disappointing them is tough 😞

Taking a half day of PTO this Friday. Cheers to everyone who can get out of the office early today after a crazy week of grinding. To those who can’t, may the PPT winds always be at your back.
If I want to jump to strat consulting, Corp strat, or top MBA from tech consulting, does a strategy rotation program sound like a good idea or is it a step backward? Currently senior analyst (cont)
What agencies have gone complete WFH?
Can anyone explain CLEAR to me? I have Global Entry which includes PreCheck but was sent an email from United about CLEAR.
My utilization has been so low since COVID closed off the offices. Should I be worried? Should I reach out to my relationship/career coach? Change to another group/line of service??
Thought: When you see diversity of skin color as the most critical factor you miss out of diversity of experience and ideas. Quite often these overlap, but there are a lot of people out there like JD Vance who come from poor white roots, but because of their skin color they’re assumed to have some magical privilege bestowed upon them by society. Likewise, wealthy people of color are lumped in with their less affluent counterparts. We’re so quick to look at skin color and see the sum (cont’d)
Having a hard time emotionally...project started pre-covid and I was told it will be about identifying process improvement opps within supply chain. Then ends up becoming this whole headcount reduction initiative! I feel so sad 😕 this is not why I joined this practice. Idk how do I cope? Please don’t say things like grow thicker skin, it’s our job.
