Has anyone used Todoist? Similar apps? My work is very self-directed and I’m trying to find a way to best manage the workload.

I tried Todoist briefly but got overwhelmed by it really quickly. It is not very flexible, so I went back to using an old fashioned pen and paper for checklists. I do use my calendar to mark deadlines and sometimes block off time to work on a project. I also use productivity timers.

Reporting back re: Marvin—so I’ve set up all my cases/matters and subprojects and so far I really love the interface. It’s easy and intuitive and customizable. I am ashamed to admit that I kept a lot of deadlines/to-dos in my head and it’s such a relief to have them organized and outside of my head.

I agree with this, I tried using outlook, todo list, etc but think the best thing I’ve done is pen and paper. I do white board with different colors for different things for long term, short term more immediate tasks I bought a journal and go day by day.

Asana app is helpful but I always fall back to to paper do lists in the end

I actually talked to a time management coach about this and according to her pen and paper to do lists are most effective for most people (as long as you have some kind of system and aren’t just writing random reminders on post it notes, like I was doing)

Guess I’m the unpopular opinion here. I’ve been using Todoist for years. It managed all my assignments in law school, during the bar exam, and now it manages my tasks in practice. I integrate it into my google calendar for work and time blocking. It also contains shared projects with my wife for things like shopping lists and household chores. We even assign who is responsible for which chores so they appear on our individual lists. Todoist runs every aspect of my personal and professional life, right down to when and how often I walk the dog. I will say I find it more useful now than ever before because it now offers a kanban board view for projects. This is great for managing in progress stuff.

I’d love to find a good organizational app. I use old fashioned pen and paper. All the apps are overwhelming and end up taking up more brain space than they save!

I am currently testing out Amazing Marvin. I will report back.

I’m working on trying ClickUp so we’ll see!

I’ve been using Todoist for a few months and I just gave up and switched back to a paper planner last week. I just hated looking at all of the unused white space on Todoist. I need things to be a little more colorful for me to visualize projects well.

Hello fellow product marketers! I would love to know how you all track your value and work numerically. It’s tough to track data and analytics of a PMM’s work with PMM being influencers to marketing and sales counterparts who then go in and deploy campaigns or sell a product - generating revenue based on your positioning/messaging/strategy. Would love to know your thoughts!

I’m looking for a new job!! It has been impossible to build a good relationship with my manager, he isn’t transparent with me and never provides any constructive feedback so I have no idea how I’m performing. I recently asked for a raise since I completed all my assigned projects for this year plus a few that I took on due to resignations and was denied with no reason. I’m so checked out and looking for a new job and manager that I can learn from and will help me grow, any help is appreciated!

I actually like my job but I only realized this past week how miserable so many of my more senior associates and partners are. Like, genuinely mentally ill that I could feeeel their anxiety or depression. How do people live like this and how do I not let it affect me? Maybe this is mean but I’ve never had issues like that and I don’t like being around that energy even if they treat me fine.

Hi! I requested a raise in late august and am still waiting on confirmation. Last update was 3 weeks ago from my boss who said he put in the request and is still waiting on approval. I can’t help but think they’re just delaying until the new quarter which is the normal raise period. Is a month and a half a long time to be waiting for this? And if it is approved is it reasonable for me to ask for “backdated pay” to when I originally asked?

I recently (August 2021) took a job in-house in Houston after leaving a firm. My partner lives in LA but freelances so the decision was to take a good in-house job and then he would move to Houston and work remote. However, he’s started to get great directing and editing gigs in LA and now it seems impractical for him to move to Houston or even split time. I love my company but their HQ is in houston and they won’t allow remote work. Continued in comments…

I recently started working at a firm that does a lot of legal aid. In order to attract more private clients, they want us to go out and do speaking engagements and volunteer work (on our own time). Furthermore, they started asking us to consider doing per diem duty counsel work to bring up our receivables (aka- work as duty counsel and give them our pay). I was so appalled by this comment, I’m beyond livid. I became an associate so I didn’t have to go out and bring in business. (Cont.)
