Has anyone used Toptal for job hunting? Their process seems time consuming so I want to know if it's worth it. Time is limited in my current season of life. Spouse and I both work and we have 2 littles at home. I'm miserable and have stagnated at my job and need a change.

Hi, I considered using them myself. I’ve reached out to them to learn more about their vetting process, did some research online about them and decided no to move forward. Their vetting process can take 2 to 5 weeks (other platforms take less time to vet their candidates) and I read once you join, their recruiters try hard to convince you not to charge more than the average being charged by other professionals in your area. I’m might re-consider them in the future but for now I’ll rather use LinkedIn.

It’s worth it. You get to secure good clients on long term projects on agreed upon terms and not deal with BS. If you’re looking for stability, this is the best platform. The whole thing about them telling people to lower their prices is BS.

What is everyones opinions on FOMO? I think it screams immature and a bit insecure. I used to have it so this may be hypocritical but I no longer do, I love staying in, making food, sitting in bed, & sleeping early. But, my friends still go out several times a week and are constantly posting their 'cool' lives on social media. When I tell my friends this, they say im being 'lame' or 'boring'. Ik they're joking but its annoying. I just want another perspective on this do I find new friends?

I’m going crazy in Audit, I’m an A2. I think I’m going to try and transition to consulting. Would it be smarter to stay within the firm or go to a new one, and is there a half-step I should take (such as going to TAS for a year or so) before going into consulting? I just want more exposure to companies I work on than just the audit, it doesn’t feel like stuff I’ll be using in 5 years (but I’d be happy to be proven wrong on that). Business strategy/biz dev is catching my interest recently.

Do you think all adhd-ers work better from home? Since transitioning out of the office completely it's been so much easier for me to schedule things around my energy levels rather than try to turn it on for work and off when I get home. Anybody else feel this way or do you love working in the office?

Do you think politics comes up a lot or is a problem in your workplace / company? (I'm talking real world politics, not office politics).

Plaintiffs counsel took my clients deposition today. He mentioned that he would likely be ordering the transcripts and I suggested we split the cost of them (in front of court reporter). He got pretty defensive and said absolutely not, it’s unfair to the court reporter, and that it is frowned upon in the industry to do that. Each party orders (and pays for) their own copy. I’m in my 2nd year of practice, never heard such a thing. I’ve actually split the cost before! Curious for insight on this…
