India is not a drain. It is a country with people and resources like any pther country so please get off that high horse

Stop being so fucking ignorant.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Maybe avoid tap water.

like

Replace water with coke/Pepsi. That carbonic acid will kill anything trying to mess with your stomach (no ice)

like

You can literally do and eat w.e you want. Just don't drink water / have ice. Westerns stomachs are weak af

Been there multiple times. It's never been an issue and I eat anything and everything everywhere. Only thing I am careful about is water.

Lol D3

Please don't drink tap water! Nobody drinks straight out of the tap in India.

like

I haven't but one of my KPMG friends did and yes she got sick. She wasn't super careful though. But generally I find that most folks who go there for the first time especially do get at least a little ill. Just bring some relevant meds!

Same rules as traveling abroad anywhere else: avoid street food and always drink bottled water (though I did drink water that had gone thru a reverse osmosis system and I was still fine). Some people only like eating cooked food when traveling outside their home countries, but I still eat the salad and fruits. Strategy has worked for me in Asia, Europe, and S. America

I got a story. My first night at the hotel, I went to a nice Indian restaurant. After dinner they brought me a copper bowl with steaming liquid and citrus. I thought it was some kind of soup and started consuming it. Minutes later my waiter comes running and tells me it's not to drink, but rather to wash your hands with. Needless to say, I got horrendously ill. After being unable to leave for a few days, the hotel had to send a doctor to my room. He put me on a hardcore antibiotic and electrolytes. I had lost 11 pounds in 3 days.

like

Hahaha D3 that's on you. Nothing to do with India

like

Ac1, definitely on me. I can laugh about it now. Interestingly, my Indian colleagues, refused to drink tap water.

like

Eat only food that is well cooked. Never things like salad.

If you are concerned about water, get a filter bottle. I used a Grayl bottle to drink tap water while traveling in Africa and didn't ever feel sick.

I went to Hyderabad for two weeks with a very sensitive stomach (chronic stomach illness) and I survived. Just be careful what you eat. Hotel food is fine. Don't eat raw fruit/veggies or ice (anywhere). Travel with stomach management meds and some cipro just in case. Use only bottled water.

Anyone have a sensitive stomach? Id love to hear some explanations from the crowd that aren’t a serious medical condition - just an above average sensitivity. I don’t think I have IBS, but I get really triggered by certain foods and they just run right through me. Some triggers I know (too much cream / fat, or conversely a large amount of raw vegetables) but other times it feels really random.

Been with my s/o for 13 years. We have had a lot of ups and downs. She had a really rough upbringing which caused severe anxiety and depression. I tried splitting up but I could sense she was unraveling and we'd always end up back together. Eventually I felt so stuck/got so sick of it that I went to grad school out of state (wasn't the right move i know but I couldn't get through to her that it was taking a toll). Long distance sucked, and her depression turned into suicidal behavior. (Cont).

Looking for advice. I’m currently interviewing for a position that pays $20k more than I make now. It seems like the job would not be giving me much for my portfolio and may have some work/life balance issues (but tbh what agency doesn’t). I’ve got piles of student loan debt. I’m only in year 2 of my career. Do I take this job for a year, deal with the downsides, pay off a huge chunk of my debt, then get back to fun stuff? Or will it hurt my career to have a portfolio gap?
