Has anyone worked as a tax software or content analyst or similar at Intuit/Thompson Reuters/Wolters Kluwer (CCH) and eventually made the transition to tech as a programmer or something else? I’ve had interviews with WK and Intuit. They say they will teach the accountants they hire a little programming. But I’m wondering if anyone has made the switch and if the job was helpful. I’d be taking a huge pay cut if I go to these companies. But I’m willing to take it if it’s worth it in the long run.

I failed CFA level 3 once.

I'm hoping to eventually do CAIA, but only after I'm done with CFA. I'm also hoping to do non-financial certifications, like Certified analytics professional (CAP), and learn about web development.

While I may have the title of manager, I am still an individual contributor. The type of work I do involves quantitative analysis/data analysis/science.

Any suggestions as to what I should start with?

Hi fishes,

I have the following 2 offers..

Cognizant- 21L fixed and 1.5L variable
PWC - 22L fixed

This is for a guidewire role.
Which is a better offer? What would be a good option for growth wrt role, salary etc.
Also, PWC claims to offer variable based on their fixed CTC based on the ratings.. is this true ? How much is the avg percentage given?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I’m debating switching careers. I’m currently a mortgage loan officer but I’m very interested in SE. My degree is in finance. There’s a coding bootcamp near me called Boca Code that’s supposed to be top notch. I’m curious for feedback on 1. Are coding bootcamps actually a way into the industry like they’re marketed? And 2. What is a realistic starting salary for entry level SE? I’ve read and been told 90k, but that seems high.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but I have a few former classmates and colleagues sweating over lateral interviews. Take a deep breath and relax.

First, doing these interviews does not define you as a person.

Second, take it one day at a time; if they are moving forward, they see something in you.

Third, remember that the people interviewing you are human beings. Connect with them, be personable.

Maybe I’m biased due to having poor luck, but why is dating so hard? Everyone just wants the next best thing and no one is ever satisfied. One argument and people sprint for the door instead of reconciling as they have “options.”

People on dating apps seem like they’re only on there to validate themselves to feel better when they get “likes” or “swipes,” but will not respond when messaged.

I honestly don’t think true love is a real thing.

My company was just acquired by a private equity firm. We’ve been around for 25+ years and have been a public company. They say “business as usual” for now, and I feel like the product I work in is pretty safe. I also received direct, positive feedback from the company’s COO surrounding my leadership. I recognize there can be positives and negatives to this type of acquisition, but I’m curious if anyone has any tips, feedback, personal experiences, etc. they can share?
