Has anyone worked at Apple after having worked at a Big4? What are the major cultural differences/morale at Apple compared to the vibe at a Big4 specifically while working in Talent?

I have pals who previously worked at other tech firms (not at one of the Big 4) and are now employed at Apple. (I won't compare; I'll just say this.) Your remarks carry less weight if you are a relative newcomer, which frequently results in your inability to refuse unrealistic tasks.

I think you can adjust well if your workload at a big4 is pretty heavy. Once you're at Apple, expect that you'll be doing a lot of things. They'll give you several tasks to do even if you are new.

Thanks! Do you know if they offer flexible work arrangements for HR professionals such as standing weekly day off with of course a reduced pay?

Different benefits from EY. Similar, but definitely not identical. My ex worked at EY and I can say personally I prefer their benefits package but my ex is a senior manager and I am just starting out in my career so that could be why.
I have not looked into the benefits specifically for women or parents trying to concieve/adopt and I don’t know how Big Tech vs Big 4 differ there. My coworker supposedly used his benefits to do IVF for conception with his wife; I do not know if she works. I am almost certain he had paternity leave but I arrived after baby was born. But seems generous in that department.

Also most Big 4s seem to have a similar career ladder no matter the position or department, whereas different departments or sectors of work have different ways of advancing in Big Tech. And even within one department, sometimes, you can move up in two or more different ways.

M-FAANGs usually are about services and product innovation, customer service and B2B-including small businesses, nonprofits, etc.

Big 4s are about services and B2B for only high grossing clientele or gov contracts, so Big Tech is broader AND services/B2B are often very different than what Big 4 work entails.

I think you have an easier time financially investing in whatever/wherever you like while at Apple and probably other Big Tech companies, than I have seen in any Big 4 due to the restrictions they have as tax/auditing companies.

I appreciate your insight! Big4 vibe is generally pretty formal and conservative with some nuance in different departments. How are Apple employees/vibe? Also, do you know if vacation allowance is negotiable at time of offer?

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Hi everyone! Just looking for some insight. I’m about 4 years into HR, have my bachelors. I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting my masters in something relating to compliance/labor law and that side of HR. Shrm certification is also on my list. If anyone has some advice on what to get a masters in specifically, I’d be open to suggestions! I’m trying to find something that would be worth my while and would give me a step up. Thanks!

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
