By and large you will have a better time as an In-house PM

Can’t emphasize this enough

I worked at a product design and dev agency for 3 years. Built a ton of stuff because we worked across many industries. I learned how to launch new products, but there was rarely a chance to own a d iterate on something long term.

I worked for a small custom dev shop. It was a good experience, got to see a lot of industries, got to work on a lot of different types of applications.

The downside is that you don’t truly have ownership, so it’s a very different type of experience for a PM. The other thing is that budget becomes an interesting aspect of the decision making...I know it’s always a factor, but when it’s an external entity that owns the budget, the conversations are just different. I guess it all traces back to the ownership question.

Overall though it was a really good experience.

I agree that it can be hard to feel the same level of satisfaction, and, control.

I don't think it's a bad idea at some point in your career, because it also gives you a sense of the landscape, more broad industry knowledge, etc. But ultimately you're going to want to settle down with something.

Backdoor Roth is a good idea if I expect to be in a higher income bracket when I retire, is that correct? Currently I’m making $150K at age 28, but I still have major life milestones I want to meet so I have no idea what my retirement income will look like (marriage, kids, house, etc.) How do I decide if I should do a backdoor Roth?

Anyone interviewed at GE Aviation?

My Experience:
1. Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn
2. Hiring Manager interview
3. Panel Interview
4. HR interview (which I felt was odd)
5. SVP interview

This is for a Product Owner role, felt five interviews was excessive, especially the HR interview. Was told it was down to another candidate and I on 4/27 and final decision would be made on 5/2. Since, recruiter has ghosted me. Have feeling they offered to the other candidate.

Does anyone know - How oracle cloud senior principal product manager role maps to Google PM levels?

Are PM opportunities specifically as Mobile iOS/Android PM limiting within the product world for long term career?

I’m in the middle of interview rounds, but I get the sense the role is very adjacent to a Design role. Could just be my lack of understanding, but sounds like every feature is about optimizing for mobile experience. Whereas generalist PMs focus on core user problems and really hone in on those to build simple solutions, agnostic of platform.

Hey, I'm looking for an interview coach for Product Management at several FAANG companies.

- $150 or less an hour
- Availability in the next two weeks for multiple sessions (8am-4pm or 7-9pm pst)
- Great at helping to hone stories with tailoring for Amazon and Google
- Estimation and product design questions
- Technical system design experience

Anyone have a specific coach or service that have helped them? Thanks in advance.

Looking for advice.

started a new PM role 4 weeks ago only to realise that the entire PM function is done by various other people inside the department. I have tried bringing up the discussion with my line manager without making it into a complaint (since i’m so new, and i want to be flexible) but i’m getting the impression that even my manager doesn’t know what a PM is or does. (He asked me if the roadmap should sit with the scrum master amongst other comments)

Thoughts of approach?

Any one from Reddit be able to help with referral?

Hey, I'm a Product Manager in London, with 4 years of experience in product, what salary could I expect from Meta?

Have the opportunity to join a startup consultancy as a Product Manager and move away from the big 4.

Going to be employee 15 as opposed to an org with ~650K employees.

Same pay. A LOT of growth opportunity. Less overall benefits, but I think the experience will net me out to be a Director in just a year or two within the org, and a lot of potential to move out from there.

I'm slightly terrified, but the team feels awesome, and they have some big clients.

What would you do?

If I’m interviewing for a IT Product Manager Job at Fidelity Investments, what should my salary expectations be? And if I gave them a low rate, how can I go about asking for more if I get the job?

anyone here with Salesforce and do product willing to chat?

Any current or former Google PMs here that can provide advice? I have a final round with Google and my recruiter is only considering me for YouTube roles as they are from that org. I have a lot of cloud and SaaS experience and would be a better fit for G.Cloud. I've been trying to get my recruiter to consider me for the cloud vertical as well and they are refusing to do that. Someone has ordered to help get my application moved to the Cloud track but they asked me to think about this first

Anyone work in the creator economy here? I currently work for a company where I help creators monetise their audience through digital products (mainly fitness apps) would love to connect

PMs, what is your approach to career development and changing companies? What do you prioritise in early career?

Compensation and WLB?

I’m a JPM (1.5 YOE in 2 companies), background in projects management (5y - 1 company) . Happy with my role (4 months) and on a path to PM in 1y. WLB and comp are ok.

Now recruiters are calling with PM + 20/50% comp increase which is great. But I’m worried changing role could be premature and hinder my long term PM path.

Has anyone had experience working for Lowes corporate in PM or IT? Any insights on that experience (in Charlotte or otherwise)
