Strong attention to detail and a typo in a report don't really go together

I hear you C1. For context, I’m not lame at my job. I got promoted 2 months ago. I think just differences in style and someone with a different vision like the phrase “there’s 2 ways to skin a cat” is more of where I’m at. And a grammar error in a document 100+ pages I think is understandable every now and again

I’m sorry, working with a micromanager absolutely sucks! A couple suggestions:
- keep a running list of all issues they’ve pointed out, and make sure you check for those before you send anything out to them/others (this one is annoying but worth it)
- put more ownership on them: send them a “draft” and ask for any edits by X time before you send out to the client/etc.
- be more proactive in letting them know what you’re working on and scheduling check ins. If you inundate them with info they won’t keep asking your status as much

like

I’m glad! One more thing to keep in mind: assuming you’re generally good at your job, the issue of being a micromanager is on them and not you. Try not to take it personally, and if all else fails leave projects/jobs to get away. I’ve worked with a toxic micro manager and it’s truly not worth the stress. You work better when you’re not stressed anyways so it only helps you to get out of the situation if it doesn’t improve

Would also say that this is very valid upward feedback!! Micromanaging like this is not helpful or healthy for them and will hold them back in their career, but (as someone who has a tendency to harp on details, myself!) it’s easy to minimize or overlook until someone points it out to you. Frame it as you working to find a working relationship that’s most successful for both of you and the project, while also contributing to their growth when in the future they work with other more junior employees

If you’re not comfortable having that conversation directly, you could seek guidance from others on how to best convey upward feedback in your organization. The right approach is dependent on org culture and this individual’s personality.

I mean you could use spell check. The email sentence stuff is stupid tho

Hi, I got an offer today that I want to accept bUt need advoce on non-competes. My current employer is in the Employer of Record industry and my contract with them includes a non-compete. The company I got an offer from is an Employment wrapper for DAOs and web3 companies - they provide something similar to EOR services but the client base is completely different + they dont go after the same clients as my current employer. The non-compete would not apply in this case, correct?

What are peoples thoughts on “money-making years”? Example, you have ~20 years left in your career, and unless you are able to become ECD or CCO you will eventually be aged out around 50 as a hands-on worker. Is it better to just go for a ridiculously high paying job, even though you are still technically doing the work? Or is it smarter to try to go for a managerial role that will (hopefully) lead to an ECD role.

She gave him an ultimatum that he can't be friends with me if he wants to be with her. He chose her. I'm a little hurt but (continued)...

I’m 25 and have been called dramatic, sensitive, and emotional my whole entire life. I want to work on not feeling as much, controlling my emotions, and not taking things personally. I also feed off the emotions and actions of those around me which makes it worse. What are some ways that you seen to control emotions and be less sensitive. This is how I’ve always been but I want to change it Ecspecially as I grow in my career and life.

On my current case, I feel like I’m part of a boys’ club. All my peers are 22-24 years guys and my manager is a 36 y/o man. I’m 29F. I’m not sure if it’s the gender or age that I don’t fit into here (or something else), but I constantly feel left out. Basically never get a chance to share my opinions because these men overpower the discussion. I’m more so concerned about the impression it creates that I have nothing to contribute. Deloitte ladies. It’s my first green light this Friday... kinda nervous. What should I expect? How does it usually go? Does your coach let you know how much your compensation increases by during the discussion or when do you find that out? Sorry for posting here but the main Deloitte bowl is hostile sometimes.
