remote next week and 1 week bench before my next engagement starts. this cant be any better <3
Tell me working from bed has been normalized by now. I thought that was the line I would never cross with WFH, but I’ve crossed it. Obviously still take meetings from my desk. This shouldn’t be anything to feel guilty about right? EDIT for context - I still live in a small apartment so there are limited options for where to work besides my desk - and sitting in one place all day is VERY draining - feel like this is probably an issue mostly for younger consultants
I feel I lost my social or communication skills because of WFH! Does anyone feel the same way? Sometimes when ppl wanted to have small talks with me, all I wanted to do is to finish that conversation ASAP. It seems I lost the interest to whatever others are saying. Really need some advice here😭
Thoughts on Pereira in NYC? It’s probably mostly WFH right now but generally speaking what’s the vibe, especially in Production?
If anyone is going from the East Bay to Yosemite tomorrow morning, please let me know. I would really appreciate it if I could get a ride 🙏🏼 Of course I’m splitting the cost of gas and can bring snacks! I’m also vaccinated and just got a negative covid test. Thanks!
What are some complexes you would recommend for a spacious 1br 1ba (or 2br 1ba) under $2K near the battery. I’m a young professional thats permanently remote and needs space to set up a nice home office.
Would PwC cover my orthodontic visits? Do they give new joiners a monitor/ desk/ useful goodies to work from home? What about WiFi costs?
Condolences to the family of the teacher in North Carolina that recently died from Covid. Sadly-she won’t be the last of our profession to die in the “line of duty.”
I have a chronic illness and WFH has saved my career. There is no way I would have been able to commute to and work in an office consistently. Now, none of my coworkers even know I’m sick.
Interesting read about folks who won’t take vaccines. Lots of different rationales, but they all boil down to people thinking they’re smarter than experts (a common problem in modern America) and a general “you can’t tell me what to do” attitude. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/05/the-people-who-wont-get-the-vaccine/618765/
Fox extends work from home directive until June 15. What happened to reopening America? Is there some reason Fox is not rushing everyone back to tbe office? https://view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/1589255019557fb9e68a2ebe7/raw
Not work related but idk where to ask this. We’ve been invited to our first post Covid cookout. It’s at my husband’s former colleagues place so we don’t the hosts too well but we know there are not going to be any kids so mostly a grown up football party. What would bring to it? Because of the current scenario I’m skeptical of bringing my home cooked dip.
The truth about how covid started
All clients need to explain conference call etiquette when WFH to their employees. So far I’ve heard people washing dishes, talking to their spouse and kids, making lunch, and playing with pets...
Big Oof. Deloitte are managing a Covid-19 testing centre in the UK (in addition to other centres and the logistics between) and yep, they suck at it. I know partners will bid for anything but wow.
So umm whose’s going to tell him? Also not surprised over half the people in this pic have caught COVID.
Birthday gift ideas for a new mom with a month old newborn? Not in the same city as her and I don’t think she’ll want any experience-type gifts with COVID still ongoing
What is Ropes & Gray doing with its wfh/flexible arrangement when attorneys do go back to offices?
Hey I am selling 6 domestic upgrades and 4 international upgrades for United Airlines. The only caveat is that the ticket(s) must be booked by the end of the month. Get them while they are hot!
Has anyone worked remotely as a subcontractor on managing social media ads? How do you determine what to charge? Would you charge hourly or by project.
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Hello fellow MBB fish! I had a question I am hoping to get insights on. I accepted an offer from McKinsey in NYC and was supposed to start in March, which I now pushed to May.
Has anyone successfully received a referral bonus at Deloitte? This is my second denied because the person worked for a former client of Deloitte. What's the point of offering referral bonuses?
Hi I just got my associates in Healthcare Mgmt. I have no prior work history in this industry, but I do have customer service skills from working at the post office for 14 years. I just wanted a change in career. I need some advice on how to land a job in the Healthcare field when I don’t have that hands on hands experience, but I do have the educational background. Passed the DoorDash onsite for an S&O Manager role! The last round is an interview with a director. Anyone who’s gone through this previously? Anything I should know in terms of what to expect, how to best prepare, etc?
What is the highest Average salary that an accountant with a CPA generally caps out on in HCOL?
Anyone in govt services at MBB willing to chat? Feeling like my experience in GPS/my specific area of expertise is putting me in a niche
Client asks us to design a poster for an IMAX movie that features how blockbuster movies are made. One of the key features in the movie is King Kong so we featured it prominently on the poster as well. Client asks seriously whether we need to be concerned about offending an African American audience. I shit you not! Arguably my most jaw dropping moment in this business.
Has anyone switched to a standing desk? Do you feel more productive? Was it worth it? Did you switch at the office or at your home?
F1 visa rule by ICE to leave country if classes are online is pure evil! Students have to pick between health and academic career!
Been getting huge waves of not wanting to work because I know I’m only in it for the money. Except that doesn’t even feel worth it anymore. Just started a new project that isn’t interesting, but is chargeable. Need some advice from fellow fishes. Oh, to add on, I had a vacation planned for Santorini earlier in April, but was cancelled due to COVID. 😭
On zoom presentations to clients, does everyone on your team you keep the camera on the whole time, or only when speaking/presenters?
Looking to buy some disability insurance but since our 'duties' as advisors include sitting in a chair, looking at the computer screen, talking on the phone, how hard is it for us to qualify for DI?
Have a second round interview with a higher up at BlackRock for an Associate role in products. Can anyone share their interview experiences or can current employees share perspective on working at the company in the current environment?
