Most agencies I’ve seen are saying they are open to remote within the US for now and will be requiring at least some on-site availability in the near future.

You’d still need a visa and you’d have to look at the tax laws for being a digital worker in whichever European country you live in. You might get around these issues freelancing and seeing if your country has a tax treaty with the United States

It’s the difference between freelance/contract and a FT employee. Need a visa or an office in your home country to be a legal FT worker. Freelance/contract can be anywhere.

I was doing it before COVID. Happy to answer any questions. Please disregard everything you heard from Copywriter 1. I'll never understand why people bother to open their mouths when they clearly have no idea what they're talking about.

Don’t know why CC1 is being so abrasive. Maybe cause they’re new here? But, OP, CW1 is right. Maybe CC1 is right, too. However, I’d say that’s the exception not the rule. Working in any foreign county as a full time employee requires you to get documentation, even remotely. This might change in the future. But, for now, it sounds like in the majority of cases this is still a thing. If an agency is willing to bend the rules for you, I’d suspect you’d be a stellar creative. But, if you’re good enough for that, you’d have to assume that you’re good enough for a visa sponsorship. My suggestion, reach out to the recruiters of the agencies you’re interested in working at. If they get back to you and ask about your visa status, or anything of the sort, ask them about the possibility to work remote without one. Or, find a recruiter based in the U.S. or staffs in the U.S. and see if they have any leads who would be open to it. Lastly, I don’t know how practical it is to work in European time zones consistently with the rest of your team in the U.S. I’ve worked with vendors that way. But, as a junior art director, your sleep schedule would be rough.

Tell me working from bed has been normalized by now. I thought that was the line I would never cross with WFH, but I’ve crossed it. Obviously still take meetings from my desk. This shouldn’t be anything to feel guilty about right? EDIT for context - I still live in a small apartment so there are limited options for where to work besides my desk - and sitting in one place all day is VERY draining - feel like this is probably an issue mostly for younger consultants

I feel I lost my social or communication skills because of WFH! Does anyone feel the same way? Sometimes when ppl wanted to have small talks with me, all I wanted to do is to finish that conversation ASAP. It seems I lost the interest to whatever others are saying. Really need some advice here😭

Not work related but idk where to ask this. We’ve been invited to our first post Covid cookout. It’s at my husband’s former colleagues place so we don’t the hosts too well but we know there are not going to be any kids so mostly a grown up football party. What would bring to it? Because of the current scenario I’m skeptical of bringing my home cooked dip.
