Has financial security made you lazier? I’m nowhere near FIRE but I finally have a little F U money and have found that I’m no longer willing to work outside 9-5. I’m on a project now that’s a dumpster fire and I’m just like “meh roll me off” instead of trying to take ownership and get things back on track. Anyone relate?

I'm certainly less stressed but I wouldn't say lazier or apathetic.

Once/if I jump off partner track I might fall into this but career progression is enough of a motivator for me currently.

like

Yeah I’m sure that’s part of it for me. I was just promoted so I feel like this year matters less.

No. After it’s no longer about the money it’s about the job. Here’s the secret no one tells you - the job gets more fun the more senior you go.

Not senior enough

A resounding yes, even though I’m a few years out from retirement. I’m ready to quit as soon as I can figure out what motivates me.

Yes. I used to think of consulting as a pie eating contest where the prize is more pie, and just assumed you had to really like the pie! Turns out it’s more like being really hungry that you’d eat anything in front of you.
Not hungry, then just one slice of pie for me, thanks.

What do you consider FU money?

Do you have equity (real estate) Manager ? How much is it worth ?

It made me less stressful for sure.

Currently on a project with tight regulatory deadlines and feel like I’m struggling to push people without pissing them off. Great learning curve for me and a good read seems timely. TIA!

I know I am extremely blessed and thankful to god that my parents are kind and allow me this but just want advice please.

I have a lot of student debt from law school. I’ve refinanced a couple of times and received the best fixed rate available, but I’ve seen others refinance with a variable rate which of course is lower. I’ve read some other comments of people refinancing at a super low variable rate....isn’t this risky? Of course I am afraid of going variable and then the interest rates going up a lot. Where can I start learning about retirement in America? I’m naive on the topic and originally from another country so I need reliable learning resources.
