I certainly hope it doesn’t end well for Russia. The U.S. and EU countries need to go beyond “sanctions” that Putin doesn’t care about and militarily defend our ally while signaling to the world that we won’t stand by while a sovereign nation is attacked.

The US invaded Iraq successfully (debatable, I know)

Afghanistan invasion was also okay-ish. The withdrawal was rushed.

This could be the one.

Everyone's just watching and planning how to benefit from it instead of really stepping in. Who knows how many will get murdered in the meantime.

There’s not really an upside for the US to get involved. Ukraine fucked up by not taking NATO in 2008

You don’t hear about the successful ones outside the American worldview. Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh and Morocco in Western Sahara come to mind.

Crimea and Nepal come to mind.

Nepal is influenced, usually a tussle between China and India. There is no occupation.

The US in Europe and Middle East? I'm ready to be decolonized
