Hate client facing roles but been doing them for 9 years. More agency gigs than brand side in NYC. Anyone else have the same feelings?

I’ve learned the over the years that I’m not cut out for client facing roles. I am not a natural ass kisser and don’t immediately bend over backwards for every request.

Same. Roles on the brand side pay much less:-/

Yesssss. Like Marketing 1, I’m not good at the ass kissing that many clients seem to require. I’m tired of it.

You could work behind the scenes on the publisher side! Campaign Managers at my company focus on analytics, optimizations and order processing. Very rarely are they client or agency facing. Or you could explore ad trafficking. Either way, we work in a fast paced industry so burnout is common. Take time to unplug, set expectations, prioritize, and speak up to your manager to prevent getting to that point. Client facing roles can be demanding and draining. Try your best to shut it down after working hours (I know this can be difficult) and do something for YOU.

I'm feeling this too. Not mad over client facing

I’m finding many clients walk all over agencies, want constant positive only responses and will ask to remove client facing team members if they don’t “get what they want”. Completely closed minded to options. It’s exhausting and the burnout is real. Mgmt has not figured out a way to drop these awful accounts.

I’ve held the opinion that when a client leaves an agency that does ground-breaking work, you don’t want to be the agency that catches that client on the rebound. Let’s call it award show burnout.

Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)
