My uncle battled pancreatic cancer for close to five years and went through many rounds of chemo and radiation. These treatments are brutal and really lowered his quality of life; I understand why your relative doesn’t want to go through that again. I suspect they’re less naive than mentally and physically exhausted from traditional treatments. Unfortunately, I think we both know that holistic treatments for cancer don’t really work.
I’m sorry, I realize this probably isn’t the answer you want to hear. I truly hope your relative improves or at least is able to find some relief and comfort.
First and foremost: Sorry! Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. But NO! There is NO holistic treatment for Pancreatic Cancer that has any proven results. Chemo is terrible but may add years to your life. Gotta go with the science. Steve Jobs might agree, if he had used the chemo instead of the holistic path.
This x infinity
My father had pancreatic cancer. As you probably already know, it is the worst cancer you can have. If your family member can tolerate the holistic treatment and it makes them feel better, go for it. But please understand, it is very unlikely to change his/her prognosis. I am not a doctor - just have years of experience being heartbroken by them
❤️❤️❤️ I’m sorry. That’s a tough situation. They’re just doing what humans are wired to do. Look for another option when one isn’t viable. I agree with above. if it makes them mentally feel better, and they don’t want to do the chemo...then maybe it doesn’t matter if it really works or not. Is the $ so much that it’s crippling the family financially? Because then I would fight against it and expose these “light -workers” or whatever these holistic/spiritual/snake oil vampires call themselves. Or is it more like a few thousand that could have gone to something else but it’s not substantial ?
I’m so sorry. I’ve lost many in my life from cancer and it has given me a different perspective should it happen to me. I’d recommend you reading Atul Gawande’s “Being Mortal”. One of the best books I’ve ever read - “the ultimate goal is not a good death but a good life...all the way to the very end”. It’s about allowing patients to make the best decisions for themselves and not necessarily what the doctor decides. All patients and their families should be given as much information as possible so they can make the best decisions for themselves and what the patient is willing to endure.

Of thousand. I feel that my family is being taken for a ride and my family member refuses to listen. I am at a loss of how someone could be so naive. Has anyone here actually had holistic treatment for cancer? What were the results? Were you doing chemo/radiation too?
traditional cancer treatments are too hard on people's health. Life quality is reduced. It is understandable that your relative wants to try something different. It may not work. But you got to be supportive and at the end respect your relative's decision, even is he/she decides to stop fighting. No easy to accept the of saying good bye but it also looks like her/his cancer is aggressive and has spread. Be strong.
