Lots of lawyers here. It takes diverse backgrounds to build a management consulting Firm. Like for everyone else, however, prior non-consulting experience doesn’t mean you know how to consult. Your friend would likely start as an Associate.
The CEO of Accenture NA, Julie Sweet, was formerly a lawyer. :-)
There's a couple lawyers at MBB. They start as post-MBAs usually.
Federal, M&A, HC, Risk... Just a few areas off the top of my head that would seem to be a decent fit

Also depends what type of law you specialized in. I started in M&A law and ended up in procurement and turn around work through a lot contract reading and negotiating. If you’re employment law, I can see that fitting well with People & Talent groups etc. Criminal law or family law may be a harder fit.
Late post, but many Privacy consultants are lawyers; myself included.
