Have a manager offer with D and an industry offer. Industry offer pays $30k more, but D is promising quality engagements and pathway to partner. Currently a SC at EY. What would you all do?

Are other successful hires told that they don’t have a pathway to partner and it’s specific to you? Kudos to the hiring team to have the foresight to envision your journey to Partnership 5+ years out based on a few conversations and interviews... legendary stuff... LOL

If you already have a few years’ consulting experience, take the industry role. The only reason to think about consulting is the learning curve - if you’ve already done a few years, then the curve for you won’t be steep. You can use the skills in the industry and get to a super senior level quick (depending on whether the company is supportive of that)

“Pathway to partner” as a manager is laughable. At best it will take at least 8 years. Go to industry.

likefunnyuplifting

Piece of advice, unless it’s in writing, D isn’t promising anything even if the person you are talking to says they are.

💯

Both quality engagements and pathway to partner sound laughable to me at D...

likefunny

Unless you like consulting and want to stick out more, take D as it seems the title bump could give you a year possibly two year head start to Partner. Otherwise take the industry role or possibly consider staying out for a better offer

Isnt everyone on a ‘pathway to partner’ (except specialist / technical track folks). Thats like saying come to industry and you are on track to CEO.

likefunnysmart

Lol consulting always trying to dangle a carrot for you.

Industry . Haven’t heard good things about WLB and job stability at D. I would never go there

Hahahaha I’m on a pathway to US President, in theory

Pathway to partner as a senior consultant? They’re playing you as a fool.

Good observation. Would have been unbelievable enough if he was a manager. If they tell him this as an SC (Deloitte’s post-MB equivalent) they have to assume he’s dumb.

Lmao, you’ll work twice the hours at Deloitte, for less pay. You’d have to be insane to work at Deloitte. Deloitte also promised experienced hires accelerated promotions. This is a straight up lie. I literally never saw them follow through once while I was there and I knew over a dozen experienced hires. Lastly, you’re at a major disadvantage coming in as an experienced manager, so the most likely outcome is you get fired in 1-2 years. Source: I worked at monitor Deloitte, left at manager, wish I left earlier!

Deloitte recruiters lie a ton. $30k is a lot, I would try to leverage that to get a better offer at D, but I would lean toward industry.

Why would you go from Ey to D? I think D is garbage as well lol

Don't come to D. Well incase you are coming here please refer me to your industry position...

Don’t take Deloitte. Do industry 100%. We all already know Deloitte will work you to death. Even if the industry job does the same, at least you’re making a lot more in industry job. I left consulting and much happier now with job and 30% raise

Industry no mf brainer

Do not come to D.

Is the industry offer what you want to exit to eventually? If so, take it. If it is just a random job, take the D offer. A few years of people management experience will open more doors long term unless you have a nice role at FAANG lined up. Edit: Phrasing, I know....
