Does level and/or office matter for referrals at McKinsey & Company? A friend is willing to refer at the Associate level in my target office though I did not get any traction w/ the referral last year. I'm a Veteran so I also recognize there may be a resume translation issue despite the prior version getting me interviews with BCG and Bain. I am a current PE associate who was placed by CPI in 2021. I want to lateral to another PE firm but soooo many PE firms use CPI as their headhunter. CPI is contractually prohibited from sending me lateral opportunities because my firm is a CPI client (and CPI would lose their commission if I left before my 1 year was up). How do I apply for associate roles at CPI clients (which most PE firms are) given this?
