If you work at a Big 4 L&E firm, what are your biggest gripes of the firm?

I had a divorce mediation last week. The client wasn’t thrilled with the results (is anyone after mediation?) but we left with the two things she wanted: the house and her pension. She thanked me. My office sent the bill a few days later, and client wrote my boss a very long, angry email claiming I gave her incompetent representation. My boss backed me 100%, but I haven’t been practicing very long, so it really stung. Anyone have advice on dealing with self doubt in these situations?

I've applied and networked for my dream job and didn't get an interview this time. Also dissatisfied with compensation and some of the responsibilities at my current job but have a lot of opportunity to learn. So the question is do I stay where I'm not thrilled to be now because it's good experience to set me up for the dream job next time there's an opening, or do I leave now to an option that's better pay and more interesting but farther off the path towards my long term goal?

Been since May 23rd that I’ve completed my background check. Called the 3rd party company and they said the background check has been sent to the hiring company for review as of last Friday. Should I wait another day before following up with my recruiter about the status of the background check? I don’t suspect there to be any crazy thing, but I’m just anxious. Hi all! This is not necessarily an interview tip, more like a what should I do now kind of dilemma. I received an email to complete an in-person interview with a company last Wednesday. I responded via email the following morning with a few times I can go in as requested, specifically a time on Monday. I hadn’t received a response by Friday end of day so I waited to send a follow up email on Sunday. I still haven’t received a response. Do I continue to reach out again or cut my losses?

I am interviewing at another company for a HR Generalist Contract position at Adobe and when they asked me what my pay expectations are, I asked them what their pay range and expectations were for this role. She let me know she was unable to tell me, yet still wanted me to give an answer. Do you believe that’s fair? (I’m a former employee from the consulting side) I had a first round interview, that from my perspective, I aced… I answered everything thoroughly, I was engaged with the interviewer…she stated my skills lined up perfectly with the role and that she wanted me to talk to her manager….15 min after the interview I get a no go email…ugh
