At 25, you shouldn’t be desperately scared of anything
Totally agree, you can always Boomerang back into consulting
At 25 you can easily boomerang back to B4 at any point in your career in the future. Having been at Deloitte has already secured you an interview at almost any firm.
Agree w all of the above. Looking back, I would have taken more risks. You can most certainly return if you’d like.
Scared of what exactly? Being more successful and earning more money than 80% of the country? Take the job if it seems great. Leave the door to boomerang back if it doesn't work out.
If quick career progression is really important to you, than consider exiting at a higher level such as Director, where you're pretty high up already.
Thanks for the replies, you both definitely get how I feel. My main worry overall I guess is the slow pace will influence the quality of the experience I gain, I don’t think it seems like a fast moving environment, I’ll be one of the few new data scientist hires tasked with building up a practice while I’m at it. This could be good or bad?
On the other hand I’m definitely not smart enough for FAANG engineering, should I take it to gain industry experience and pivot to FAANG later when I stand a chance? I can’t tell if this is the right move, promise of more interesting work doesn’t equal better work
Do it
