Are you getting any equity? Otherwise you are only growing someone else’s money.

No equity. That’s my second biggest problem. Since they aren’t a tech startup they claim equity is not common

Assuming you’ve taken into account equity and valuation upside, and it’s still a pay cut… Never take a pay cut, even if it’s for a career pivot. Any job hop should enable you to get at minimum 10% more if your career has a growth trajectory. Good companies do not force you to take pay cuts. Exception might be if you’re switching into a role that by default gets paid less, because it’s less P&L impacting

K1, You’d most likely be going from a “better” company to a “worse” one, which isn’t necessarily bad if there’s elements of WLB that you’re trying to optimize for instead But if someone is under the impression that the next role will be a step up in terms of learning and growth, imo it would likely come with a raise as well

14% cut might not be so bad when you consider no state income taxes in Tx and possibly lower cost of living in Austin

Everlywell? Even high growth startups not in tech should offer equity otherwise think this is odd.

Personally I don’t find value in working for a startup if no equity is offered especially. Also, non-tech does not mean you can’t get equity. Nice managers, small team, promotion potential, etc., don’t sound like a good reason to take a pay cut. I’m just trying to find the upside here for you...

Looking to boomerang back to PwC. The offer for a salaried position was pretty solid, but that one-time sign on bonus will go away the next year (obviously). They mentioned ‘Talent-Exchange’ and getting paid hourly with no benefits. If I did that, I would make about 205k (gross, with no benefits). That’s assuming I would average 55 hours a week throughout the year (pretty similar to what I work right now). Anyone have experience doing this? I’m worried averaging 55 is not possible.
