Have an offer with 140k + 10k (sign on bonus) + discretionary bonus structure. New company working hours are from 10-4pm. Currently at uncle D with similar compensation but the hours are much longer. Is it ok to jump ship? Would people consider me as a loser because I’m aiming for more life and less work?

I would take a pay cut for 10am-4pm workdays. I'd take a paycut for 8am-4pm. Even 8am-5pm. If that's a serious offer, and the company is serious about boundaries, it's a no-brainer.

This is a question?

Put your name on the damn dotted line you moron (maybe try to negotiate first but seriously, take the damn offer)

What exactly would you plan to do w the extra time? I don’t value my weekday free time that much regardless of the exact hours.

Hoping this is a joke. But actually can believe this is the attitude of the robots in our company...

If you're a parent anxious to spend more time with family, then such a move is common if not expected. But if you're a single person who will use the time for Netflix instead of something "better" then it is a missed opportunity and some people will judge you for it.

Overall, does this new role advance your long term career plans? Is it interesting? Are there for exit opportunities? You don't want to leave for shorter hours only to get bored, stagnate your career and then be jealous of your consulting friends when they get promoted and make more money. Even if you make more per hour, volume and advancement still matter.

Alternatively, tell the people that will judge you for it to kick rocks and take any issues up with the top 10% income you’re receiving for a 30hr work week
