Held off being a CD for 5 years. Had to change agencies to avoid it! Didn’t want all the meetings and enjoy concepting and making too much. But it caught up with me in the end!

I refused a promo because they wanted me to take it (more responsibility) with no additional $$$.

I’m on the verge of asking for my pre-promotion job back. The intensity of the next level is chaos and the money isn’t worth it at this point in my life. Too many politics. I’ve known several people who took a career break around VP/SVP level because it was the tipping point where the job changed. And that aligned with more family responsibilities and partners hitting their stride career-wise. A few of them took more meaningful jobs (mostly working for ngos/cause orgs) with slight paycuts. But it was a chance to set better boundaries for work.

Just had someone on my team decline a promotion.

Yep. It's not always worth it as we see on thus page.

I’ve heard VP say no to SVP promo due to new business requirements. Not crazy at all.

like

@VP1 that sounds just plain ridiculous....

Thilesenarw all good points. I think at one point enough money is good to. Live a happy life.

That's what I was thinking. May not be worth it.

Why do I feel so guilty about wanting to take another offer and leaving my team? I like my current teammates just HATE the client and project. I’ve also asked for a raise multiple times and have been told no. I’m underpaid but am up for promotion this year (June). I don’t think Deloitte can/willmatch. I want to take the money but I feel like I’m still learning leaderships skills and can see the potential for beefing out the management portion of my resume. What would you do? (Offer 50% more)

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued

Moms, I am 14 weeks pregnant. At KPMG, the new year starts in October and basically by spring of the following year, so April 2021, is when they put people up for promotion for the following year. My goal is to make it on that promo list in April 2021 - But thats when I am due. When should I inform my team that I am pregnant and how do I let them know that I am still willing to work hard for this promo despite my pregnancy? Thank you!

Working with a financial advisor who is trying to sell me on Indexed Universal Life Insurance (IUL) as an investment vehicle. Supposedly there’s no downside risk and 5-7% returns and it’s not taxed. It seems too good to be true and makes me raise an eyebrow. Wondering if anyone has any insights into this or if my advisor is taking me down a risky path.

I'm a first year and just received a raise, even though I haven't been at the firm for a year yet. It's a great amount, and I'm so thankful. The partners told me in person but I'm just wondering if I should ask them to put it in writing, just to confirm it and in case anything happens down the road? If I learned anything as an attorney, it's to always have everything in writing lol
