I graduated with an MIS degree and
have 1 year of work experience. The
role I'm in involves managing/working on client projects, testing any changes made to our
system, and working with customer
service on resolving any escalations. The role isn’t interesting or challenging.
I’ve been thinking about switching to a consulting role but I’m not sure if I qualify or where to begin. Any advice?

Can anyone recommend an app or software for tracking billable hours to make it easier to put together and submit timesheets? I work for a small firm and all of our billing/invoicing is done manually. Every couple of weeks I go through my notes to type up my timesheets and I’m wondering if there’s an app that can record my time as I work and then put that all together categorized by client to submit for invoicing. I don’t need to note how much a particular client pays per hour.

Would it be dumb to leave before October if I’m very confident about a promotion to manager and the “substantial” raises that leadership has promised us? I can’t help but look longingly at job postings and am genuinely excited about a few that I’ve found, but it seems short sighted to apply now (and likely start in late August or early September) instead of waiting until October to get that manager title and a big raise.

For those with this experience, all other things equal, as a percent (for example, 200% harder), how much harder would you say it is to find a new job 2 months after being unemployed vs. finding a job while still at the company you will be laid off from in a couple months?
