I hear MBB will hire you if you're insta famous
I see it more as a liability than an asset. But that's probably because I didn't start blogging to get a job
It really depends on the blog content. Where I have seen it be a liability (not in consulting but in a professional setting): friend set up blog to promote his rap music, rap music was clean but one of the songs talked about him slacking off in law school. He had summered at a law firm and gotten a full time offer, but one of the associates at his firm "leaked" his blog to the hiring board and they basically told him to take his blog down or his offer would be rescinded. He decided not to go to that law firm, in large part because of this threat. But we were a little surprised by how seriously they treated his blog (firm name was not mentioned anywhere on blog or in his music but Above The Law published a post about his rap music and named him as "a summer at X firm").
If so, can you share your tips?
Lol
I blog on LinkedIn- not many posts and no offers yet...
I have ~150k followers on instagram. Other than some free stuff every now and then, it hasn't really opened doors.
@a2 I think best practice is to include it on your resume under professional experience and make sure it's a sticking point on your cover letter
Thank goodness we all have jobs with extended free time to blog
OW why do you see it as a liability?
If you are in tech, it's worth its weight in gold assuming your content isn't shit. Otherwise you are just another blow hard spouting off bull shit.
